14 year old boy who wants to "fit in" by wearing droopy drawers, but I think it's awful... how can we come to some sort of compromise? He wears the waistband around his lower hips and "claims" that is where his waist is??
I need answers , please.

Let him wear baggy pants around home and to informal places but at school and grandparent's house have him wear good fitting jeans.

Hi! I have a 15 year old son, and know your situation, because I was in it last year. I rebelled against letting him wear the baggy, low pants, too. The compromise was that the crotch couldn't be worn really low, like halfway down the thigh, but they would be a size or two larger just to give the "look", and he wore a belt always with the looser ones so they weren't hanging down... The trick is in finding the right fit of pants, so they can be lower on the waist a bit, not all the way down on the hips, but still have a fuller leg to give the illusion of the baggy pants. Go with him shopping to try on different styles. It can be done, and making the effort for us was worth it, because he was happy and so were we. Hope you can understand the explanation I gave... P.s. We do NOT allow the showing of underwear!

I can't say for sure, but I think it will pass. Once the next fad come in you'll have a new dilemma to worry about. For now, if it REALLY bothers you and he MUST wear them, take him to a high end modern store and shell out the money for a pair that is well made to suit the look. He will absolutely love you for it and it will resolve a lot of your tension surrounding the undesirable look. I am a parent and this is my advice - it would work for me but may not work for you. Good Luck

I think you should sit down with your son and ask him to give you a valid reason why he feels he should wear his pants like that. After he has given his reason you should tell him the origin of sagging pants.
Sagging originated in prison, the prisoners would wear there pants low to let the other inmates know that they were "available".

That is how most boys will wear their pants. Girls wear theirs below the belly button too (hip huggers). As long as it doesn't hurt anyone ask yourself if it's really that big of a deal....... personally, I think concentrating your efforts on teaching him about the dangers of drugs, alcohol and teen sex is more important.

I think there are pants out there that are meant to look like they're hanging off your butt, but actually hang from the hips. Check out urban clothing stores.

Saggy pants originated in prison. The wearer is sending out a message that they are willing to have butt sex.
