Am going bonkers playing Myst 4. Have encountered a crashing problem--help!?

It's at the irritating monkey tree puzzle after you visit the hut. I finally got the puzzle two thirds of the way solved, and then I messed up the last bit. After several retries, the PC began crashing every time the monkey came out of the basket. I went completely out of the game, restarted, still crashed. Shut off the PC, restarted, game crashed. There's plenty of room on the PC, and the works are big enough to run the crazy game, so that isn't it. I'd really hate to restart this long, involved game, only to have it crash again with these stupid monkeys. Any ideas before I restart the game? The disk looks ok, no deep scratches or anything. I wish I kept some of the game saved part-way through so I didn't have to go ALL the way back to the beginning!

go to ubi.com or there is a link from myst.com for support. My copy had probs and they told me how to fix it you might have to sign up but it's free. trust me the ending is worth all hardship. and I saved alot and in different slots. that way if you get a "bad" ending or make a mistake somewhere you don't have to restart the game.
