Sounds like you have a handle on things, to me. They have no real culture or heritage so them make up one out of dealing drugs, murder and pimping.

No. To hate what is bad does not equate to being racist. Rappers have become my community's own worst enemy, one step below drug dealers. America had a role in this by denying opportunity throughout many generations. You can't oppress an entire culture and then wonder what is wrong with them. That would be similar to abusing a child and wondering why he or she is self destructive. Not giving excuses, just partial explanation.

I am the first, post civil rights, generation black (born in 65) it will take a few generations to undue the psychological and financial damage caused by segregation and brutalities of old.

Few whites alive today are to blame for what happened. So I don't fault anyone here nor excuse the atrocities of rap music. The monetary return is what drives this hideous culture of hate and destruction. Tu Pac and Biggy reaped what they sowed, hate and discontent. Hating what is bad is never wrong nor racist.

First of all Niki K....Most blacks arent fake, the majority of us dont get lip injections, breast implants, and fake tans! Thats being fake! To the person asking the question, no you arent racist if you think people in or around rap music are worthless. Ignorant?? Maybe..A lot of them do rap about the same stuff, but there are rappers who rap about things other than jewelry, money, etc.(Common, Mos Def, Lupe Fiasco...) I think since they grew up poor and didnt have those things thats y they rap about it so much...i honestly dont know, but there is Paul Wall who is white and raps about the same stuff as well as other non famous white rappers. There are latinos who do the same thing. Its not about the race itself.....its the rap culture you dont like

It's not the people you should hate its the record companies. All they care about is money, so they keep on putting this crap (money, cash, money, cash, hoes!) There is good rap music out there, you just have to look for it. You won't find it on MTV or BET. Rap music that more than what was before mentioned. You also need to look at the history of music. Rock and Roll was not created by Elvis. Also Jazz came from the black culture.

When Rap music was first developed by disc jockeys and urban blacks in the late 1970's - it was just a STYLE of popular music in which an insistent , recurring beat pattern provided the background and counterpoint for rapid, slang, and often boastful rhyming, and it was usually meaningless talk --- glibly spoken by a vocalist. Unfortunately most of today's rappers choose negative, sleazeball subject matter and I too shut it off. That doesn't make you a racist it just means you don't like some people who sing, live, and pass on their negative life style

If you are racist, which race is it that you are against? There are black rappers and white rappers. It is not the color of ones skin that makes them like the kind of music they like (if you can call "rap" music). I don't like rap, country, rock, or opera. Does that make me a racist ? I don't think so. And I don't consider you a racist , either.
Here is a list of Black musicians I enjoy.
Nat Cole
Mills Brothers
Brook Benton
Louis Armstrong
Aretha Franklin
The Platters, The Drifters, A truckload of them from the fifties.
So, you see, It's not a racial thing. Just generational, that's all.

I do not think that you are a racist, instead simply uneducated. Yes some lyrics in some rap songs are degrading. But not all. People can rap about religion, success; pretty much anything. So everything that they believe in is NOT a waste of time

Hell no, you're not racist.

A lot of black people feel the way you do too. My parents, in fact, feel that way. Just because 90% of those artist just happen to be black, that doesn't make you a racist. You don't like Bubba Sparxx either, do you? Or Paul Wall, right?

If not, you're not a racist, you just don't like a certain type of music, that's all.

Disliking someone based on their music tastes seems kinda bad though, because I don't listen to that type of music either, but I like Mos Def, Talib Kweli, etc. And I wouldn't want people to think I was worthless because of that.

No, you are not racist. Niki is racist for saying blacks are fake. You on the other hand, are a bigot, for stereotyping all people who are involved in rap music.
There is nothing wrong with not liking a particular type of music. Personally, I don't care for most rap music. I and many others, may not care for the type of music you listen to either.

You are not racist just ignorant, as stated before. Did Kanye West stop rapping about "diamonds money bitches"? I don't think so.

No, not if you just dislike the rap scene and know that not all black people believe in all that. Not even all rap music is like that! And if you feel the same way about white rappers.

Then its not racist.
