By inventing a new one that people can more relate to or have more interest in.
For example, the Dutch "Sinterklaas" was remodelled by the Dutchmen who moved to the US and finally became Santa Claus (the name is basicly still the same, lol). Now with Chrismas being hiped all over the world by all commercial interests, Santa Claus is slowly killing his own roots (Sinterklaas). The holidays of Sinterklaas are slowly being more and more replaced as the celebrated holiday by Santa Claus every year.
By the way "Sinterklaas" was a christian remodelling of the Northern god Odin. So in a way "Sinterklaas" already killed Odin.

You would have to develop a method of going into the memory banks of all humans living today, as well as perform B&E's on about 500 million homes and destroying/vandalizing every piece of Santa Claus paraphonilia packed away into closets, garages, and attics.
If Santa really did exist, this could make for a great war story.
