As a sophomore in college i remember this game we used to play in gym class with this giant rainbow colored sheet. We'd all life it up and run under it and stuff. I'm sure other's of you remember this activity...anyway apparently....they now banned this activity from elementary school gym classes because it's to "violent" my friend wants to become a physical education teacher so this is how i found this out..I'm surprised. I also heard dodge ball was banned from some schools as well as tug of war and tag!! Does anyone else think this is at any way dumb?

Pretty soon all that the kids will be able to do during PE and recess is just stand there quietly until it's over. Too many parents are lawsuit happy.

LOL! The rainbow thing...I used to love that game as a child. But I can sort of see why the other two were banned, though I really love dodge ball :[

Yes, it is dumb. Tag was actually banned from the whole state of Wisconsin, I believe. And that sux. Soon recess will be where kids take chairs outside and sit! That's what it's coming to! Because they'll find that chalk is dangerous too...Oh NO! LOCK THEM INSIDE! If kids didn't need sunlight to grow, I'm sure they would have some kind of indoor reading seminar every day.
What they need to realize is that...Kids get hurt. It's apart of growing up!
It's sad.

Yes! I remember the parachute thing..I never really knew what it was called. I Love Dodge ball...
Why would they banned it from schools? We grew up playing it and we turned out fine.

i could see dodgeball getting out of hand as with tag but i remember the rainbow sheet parachute thing vividly and it was not violent at all. tug of war is also a bit over the top and not in the least bit violent

Thats crazy... that game was money. We would also throw balls in the center and throw them up with the sheet/tarp thing. As for dodgeball, we still play that in gym (12th grade phys ed). However, we dont use those red rubber balls, rather soft foam type balls.

that is the stupidest thing i have ever heard.The dodgeball i can kind of understand but tug of war tag and the other thing (i played it too) that's what happens when stupid cry babies are in charge.

dodgeball could be band depending on the ball they use...basketball...no...bouncyball.....o.k
tag..../maybe...the tag may be turned into a push...which it shouldn't.....tug of war..same thing it depends
EITHER WAY IT SHOULD BE MONITERED ...AND THAT ONE PERSON OR SMALL GROUP OF PEOPLE SHOULD BE PUNISHED..NOT THE WHOLE SCHOOL!!!
