We ruined it. Not the politicians. We as citizens have refused to take a stand against a government that has lost its way.

I completely agree with that statement. Our forefathers were amazingly insightful and were trying to build a society as close to utopia as humanly possible, not only for themselves but the future of our country.
Granting amnesty to 12 to 20 million illegal immigrants will accelerate our descent. The effects devastating the middle class down and I don’t think it will take 200 years. As for 20 million illegal immigrants paying taxes, they are all below the poverty line unless they deal in drugs and other illegal activities. We can’t help the American citizens we have now. How many people go without food, adequate health care, housing and education?
Our society is crumbling and I believe that it is due in part to lack of values, pride, and discipline. We choose our politicians for what they promise to do for us not for what they actually do.
I believe that removing crosses and Ten Commandments is ridiculous and not because I am all that religious. These are traditions and should be preserved. However, we should promote tolerance NOT JUST TALK ABOUT IT.
Live and let live, don’t infringe upon anyone else’s liberties and keep socially unacceptable behavior behind closed doors and between consenting adults. Who dictates socially unacceptable behavior? First we have the law, don’t like them elect someone who will actually do something about it, second we have our own personal religions beliefs, and third, if you have to ask just do it in private.

I'm afraid he was right but to an extent he wouldn't be able to imagine! While most of us would like to believe that the majority rules, the opposite is the case.
When candidates are on the podium spewing their particular brand of who gets what or what they can do for you they know that the main ingredient to their success is being popular. That popularity is a direct result of their charisma... That's what gets them elected. They know the more their name is splashed around the better chance they have and that's what it's about.
And, you are exactly right about our political parties. They sound good, have all the right moves but, they are ruining this country. We would not be able to survive with just one or the other and that may be our current saving grace. I say current because eventually we will be thrust into Alexanders life cycle, with dependence being the final final! We will be at the mercy of anyone who cares to direct us.
There is a chance (I believe), if we start voting in term limits on all elected officials eventually a common person will emerge that can lead and lead to success. We simply have to become aware but, that will be a problem since there is a whole bunch of American citizens who can't say the pledge of allegiance or know why we have independence day. They are the ones that will fall into the dependence on the government that doesn't know what they are doing. It's a daunting task... Isn't it?

thanks that is beautiful , I have this little tidbit but never knew who wrote it , you didn't put the last sentence in it was " back to bondage" how long will America survive?? our people are to the dependence stage now. I really think it is in its death Theo's now as we can't win a war with some ancient country such as Iraq, we have let the liberals destroy our educational system, our means of manufacturing , our Independence, our country is broke financially, how much further can we go ?we are so dependent on other country's now we and they are turning against us daily, because of our unconditional support of Israel, do we have any friends left? are we really a recognized entity any more? In every country I have been in the last 3 years are laughing at us we are the big dogs but our bite is harmless.

Fortunately/unfortunately, we are not alone on this planet of 7 billion! I am afraid that the relative peace and prosperity is threatened and sooner or later another great blood bath is bound to occur!
I find myself constantly wondering when and where, but the truth is ,it is probably not even on any-body's radar!
I, for one am at least glad that our military is getting actual combat training so that if it occurs we will have seasoned people to train and lead our people!
Libbies will wake up one day and find themselves face to face with the cold hard fact that we DO NOT LIVE IN A PERFECT WORLD!

I give it 50 years, what with industrial capacity being handed to Red China on a silver platter, refusal to develop domestic energy resources and the upcoming secession of portions of the southeast to Mexicans

Hopefully those that vote Republican and Democrat will wake up and understand that it is the power of these two parties that is the problem and not the individuals in those parties.
Vote third party!

Like Kevin Bacon said in "A Few Good Men". Is there a question in our future?
Too bad it is not 230 years ago, then you and old Al could hold hands and bemoan things.
