Anyone who is happy or saddened by the death of Saddam is a fool. War is not a game, a sport or an entertainment venue.

Death of a person is not an event to celebrate. It was his responsibility to unite the people and win their confidence. I myself feel confused about the environment prevailing in Iraq. It appears that instead of solving issues politically inhuman and harsh approach was made by the rulers. Saddam and earlier rulers must have served their people to the best of their ability. A nation is strong only if it is united. Dictators do not understand this point. Iraq has tradition of change of Government by shedding blood. Bush dream of Democratic and prosperous Iraq had cost USA heavily. Important issue is not Saddam death but peace in Iraq.

Absolutely not. I see a number of people who have expressed positive reaction towards his death reasoning he had killed others. However, none of them really know the truth. If it is just about killing, than there are no bigger evils and murderers than George W Bush himself, Tony Blair and even the president of my own country Hamid Karzai. These people have caused the death of thousands of people in Afghanistan and in Iraq under the pretext of Al-Qaida, Taliban or fugitives.
You see, there is no big difference between what Sadam did yesterday and what Bush is doing today. But don't the US government apprehend, torture people, accused of trying to attempt assasination of any American leader or attempting any act that is against the US interest naming it terrorism in thier special prisons? This is exactly what Sadam may have done. Then why would no body points at these people, but would be happy about Sadam's execution?
The fact that he was executed right on the holy Eid day clearly manifests that it was an act of revenge by his opponents who are also fueling the civil war in Iraq. For the US it is clearly a triumph to have terminated its biggest foe, but for others who are happy about his death is a pitty who are happy about the fact that there is more chaos and strife in a country.

He should at the very least stay alive to face his other charges. Then get to spend the rest of his life thinking about what he did. Hanging him only puts everyone on his own brutal level. But unfortunately some cultures don't understand that. Some Iraqis don't, and many educated americans don't either. It narrows the gap.

i am not happy that he died. i dont think its right to be. im not sure about capital punishment. i think it would have been enough to lock him up for the rest of his life. However a man that was so far gone from reality may have taken his own life if given the chance... its all very sad. i feel bad for him in a way.
