You're not supposed to eat or drink anything for 8 hours before your test.
I scheduled mine for first thing in the morning so all I had to do was skip breakfast. Many labs require you schedule appointments for glucose tolerance tests. When you get to the lab they will have you drink a sweet cola-like beverage, then after an hour they will take your blood. If you are having the 3 hour glucose tolerance test, they will take blood from your arm every 3 hours.
You cannot eat or drink anything for 8 hours before either of these glucose tolerance tests.

They should have given you instructions on what you have to do. You can NOT eat anything after midnight and they usually try to get you in for the test as early as possible. And you are only suppose to sip water if needed. Yes you will be hungry but you and the baby will be fine, and as soon as the test is done you can go fill up your tummy. You want this test to be accurate because if you have gestational diabetes it can be very serious and cause a lot of different complications. Good Luck with the test!!!

Call your doctor now and have them go over the intructions for diet for this test.
If this is just a fasting glucose level, you need to refrain from eating or drinking everything for 8 to 12 hours before the test. If it is a glucose tolerance test, you need to fast like this as well, but may be told to eat a high carb diet for a few days before the test.
Do not go for this test without being sure you understand the instructions, and never be embarassed to ask.

You shouldn't eat or drink anything other than water after midnight before. I was pregnant and had to do those tests and those were the orders given to me by my doctor.
Fight off the hunger so you can get an accurate glucose testing result. Then munch down afterwards.
Better to not eat, than to eat and have to redo the test.

You are not supposed to eat anything before a glucose test. Only water and sugar free drinks. Maybe you could try sugar free jello and go as early as you can for your test.

You are not usually allowed to eat or drink anything other than water..Thats why they make the test usually early in the morning..so u dont go hungry all day. If u eat then u will probably have to retest and for a longer period,

first off, most of the people here are WRONG. You do not have to fast before the test unless the dr specifically told you to. Just eat normal, but avoid anything with ADDED sugar.

So they told you not to eat sugar? I ate toast with butter and jelly a couple of hourse before I went and also had a drink with some sugar and all came out fine. They didnt tell me what to eat or not to eat. Just not to eat an hour before the test.

You are not allowed to consume anything other than water on the day of your glucose tolerance test, you have to wait until the time is up to eat. It is hard but you will make it.
