Why? They don't make fun of other people because they like rap music or other types of rock music! I think emo kids are so cool to hang out with and my best friend is emo. I actually LOVE emo music. They hate emos just because they express their feelings? And it is not true that only emos cut themselves(most of them don't) I've met people who are definetly not emo and they cut themselves. So why don't they just lay of the stereotypes? And feel freee to express your opinion and not hate emos just because other poeple do. Grow up and get your own opinions, not your friends'.
There will always be exceptions. I guess people hate all emo kids in general because the've met 1 or 2 "emo" kids who are whiny and get on everybody's nerves. But it still makes no sense to catergorize all of them under definitions of whiny and annoying!
Can somebody please explain this because unlike those people I have an open mind and I'm not so insecure and arrogant to think that all emo people are the same.

Your 100 percent right. Its all stereotype and I have a few "emo" friends. I don't even consider them "emo" because they are humans and they deserve the right to act and express how they feel without people being mean and telling them that they are crybaby's. I hate stereotypes! I also hate all racism! But, everyone get racism and stuff... just not emos

ummm...well some are good and some are bad...like in most groupls of people- but they just look like posers. emo has become a thing that is 'cool because it is uncool' so it is popular. I dont know, it just isnt original anymore, the actual person, of course, i'd need to talk to them, but the emo people I have known are just kids that make everything look so casual but really they are completely obsessed with everything. Well, I have no idea if that answered anything, in truth, I just dont get involved with that group.

Sadly, that's just the world we live in. People see emo kids as dangerous because they equate them to dangerous psychopaths such as those who brought guns to school and shot people.Average animal nature is to conform and to despise what is different. Animals are often seen doing this (they alienate animals who are different and sometimes kill them), and humans, as animals or being similar in structure, also do this. Many People justify the alienation of Emo kids by pointing to Columbine and other such instances, but it's wrong.

its because the tag of emo doesnt make much sense.
Surely all music is emotional and the way teenagers go on about how emotionally distressed they are is a bit silly when there are people in a much more sticky situation.
Its very much a modern thing and itl pass. It lacks musical weight to be a respectable scene.

bravo! my friend is "emo" according to what everyone says.and we both make perfect scores in school.some people even say I'm a reversed emo because i look like i stab myself a lot(i do but not on purpose) because i have a lot of holes on my body.i listen to that music because i have a way of making bad things make me happy.now when it comes to clothes I'm often wearing long black pants and a shirt with pain on it or skateboarding .i wear it because its loose and comfortable.i don't see why kids treat us the way they do because of our looks and likes.even if I'm emotional I'm proud of who i am and will not tolerate this discrimination.

It's all in the way they look and act so gloomy - Black = evil in some people's minds, because the Devil was known as the Prince of Darkness...girls with blonde hair who wallk around in white clothes look more "Angelic"

their not all the same and the whole cutters thing that pisses me off soo freaking bad if they only knew why they did it like if they ever get that emotionaly hurt theyd cut them selves too so the physical pain would cancel out the emotional one emo is not a fashion or style like whats up with that?? and also just because my presonality myte b preppy i get called poser emo and wannabe emo everysingle day just for listening to bleeding through, children of bodom, and drowning pool
