Good evening, i am Martin, i am studying japanese, how are you?

Good evening (Konbanwa) i am martin (watashi wa maruchin desu) i am student/studying japanese (nihongo no gakusei desu) how are you? (o genki desu ka)

here are a few word that may help you to understand this more clearly.

Ohayo gozaimasu (good morning) Konnichiwa (good day) konbanwa (good evening)

watashi wa (i am) san (mr, mrs miss) (a name) desu (desu is like how to end a sentence if you are stating something)

Nihongo (Japanese language) nihon (japanese for Japan) Gakusei (student/studying) (remember what desu means??)

Ogenki desu ka? (how are you) remember desu is an ending o senence with statement? well ka is end with question

some other useful words are:

Eigo - english language
Subarashii - wonderful
Kireii - cute/pretty etc
omoshiroi - interesting (one might say "watashi wa omoshiroi desu - but then you'd look a bit big headed lol)
Ja ne - cya
matane - informal goodbye
sayonara (formal goodbye)
Chotto matte - excuse me a minute
Sumimasen - sorry (polite way)
nani? - what?

if you need any more help with Nihongo - gimme a shout anytime!

konbanwa means good evening. watashi wa maruchin-san desu means i am mr./mrs./ms. maruchin (although why they used san after their own name confuses me because that is normally considered to be rude.) nihongo no gakusei desu means i'm a japanese student. ogenki desu ka means how are you

I believe the person is merely introducing him/ herself.
"Konbanwa, watashiwa Maruchinsan desu" ~ Good evening, I'm Mr./ Mrs./ Ms. Maruchin.
Can't help you with the second part, though lol *sorry*.
"Ogenki desu ka?" ~ How are you?

The first answer - and Belie's - are correct.

But I think Maruchin is someone's attempt to romanise the Japanese pronunciation for Martin...!! There's no set way to do it, but I don't like that version myself.
; )

"Good evening. I am Mr Martin (and I don't know the etiquette so I give myself the polite suffix -san!) [I'm] a Japanese student. How are you?"

Depending on how long he's been studying Japanese, that might be a very good attempt!!

"Good evening, I am Maruchin*. I'm a Japanese language student. Are you well/how are you?"

*This part is incorrect. You NEVER refer to yourself with "san". I'm also unsure what "Maruchin" is in English (but that's because I suck with names).
