If it tempera or "poster paint", just simply wash in normal detergent (not bleach) and it will come right out. You may want to put a little detergent right on the spot if it has dried or is a heavy spot and rub it and rinse a bit.

If you are talking latex type paint, if it is still fresh, use luke warm water and mile detergent and rub like crazy and rinse. Repeat as necessary. If it has dried, it probably won't come out no matter what you do.

Apply water until the paint comes off. This will cause the paint to thin until it washes away.

If the paint is dry, crumple the part where the paint is and scratch it with a hobby knife or a dime.

While it's wet you can practically just scrub it off. Or wash it and when it's dry peel off any remaining paint. Since it's water-based, you shouldn't have much of a problem.

Get some Painter's Pal by Goo Gone and spray it on. It should remove the paint easily.

Use water! I'd soak the item in water and use a little detergent to work it out.
