I've never seen the live show, but I've seen the movie countless times. The music is really fun to sing along with. The characters are great- Sandy, Danny, Rizzo, Pinky, Kenkicky. It's a great love story. I think it will continue to be successful. It's already 30 years old, and still wildly popular. Did you see the Grease auditions tonight? They played a lot of the original music, and a lot of the people tried out with songs from Grease.

I guess it was such a huge success because no matter how much people try and deny it, you just can't resist a good musical and Grease was just that, a good musical. It had catchy tunes, memorable lines and good choreography for it's time. I'm getting all this from the movie because I haven't seen the broadway show, but I thought the movie was really good.

I definitely think it will stick around. I just watched the new Grease You're the One that I Want show and now I want to watch the movie again. Would love to see the musical. Not sure why it was so popular, maybe because of John Travolta?

Grease the original stage musical has the classic theme of boy meets girl, boy loses girl and then boy and girl reunite. Throw in some catchy tunes and in the movie, an attractive cast and you have a film with universal appeal. Scratch the surface of any cynic and you have a true romantic. For many of us it is the only happy endings we experience.
Love is a universal theme so I think that the film and stage musical will be around for some time yet.
