In general, the parents and congregation are promising to bring the child up the way the Lord would have the parents rearing their child....the congregation is also asked if they will help also.....

At a christening, the parents of the baby that is going to be batptized comes up the the pulpit and answers a series of questions asked by the minister. The questions are about whether or not the parents are going to help their child be a good Christian and stuff. Then, the minister takes a piece of cloth, places it in a basin of water, and dabs it on the kids head.
Thats all I remember. I don't go to church all that often.

Baptism or "Christ -ening" has to do with being brought to Christ as He told us to be.

We don't understand it. We only do it. We do it because He said we should.

BUT we know the results. The Baptised have their sins forgiven through Jesus atonement and receive the power of the Holy Spirit to be the children of God.
