I'm not sure about Israel. I think France also helped supply them with their nukes.
In any case, we were never attacked by Iraq. They did not have any WMD that were worth a damn. They might have had a bit of rotting old chemical weapons (CW) in some rust bucket of a container, and they did have a factory for producing CW, because the US gave it to them. They probably had some anthrax sloshing around somewhere that was not weaponized.
The real motivations were probably complex, but the article below probably lists them somewhat correctly. It was a "think tank war", as originally proposed in a Der Speigel article. There could have been other reasons that the desire for global domination. For example, Bush wanted to punish Hussein for his father's failure there in the first Gulf War conflict. Someone's friends certainly profited from lucrative contracts in the region. As they say "follow the money."

The main reason used to enter into Iraq was the reports of developing weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) We knew he had chemical weapons at one time because of the wars on the Kurds and Iranians. He (Saddam)showed a willingness to use those weapons. Sada am continued his saber rattling after the Kuwaiti War, attempting to destabilize the middle east so he could become the major power broker. One only has to look to the support given to Hamas and other Palestinian groups facing off with Israel to understand that this was a regime that needed to be stopped. Saddam's constant harassment of UN inspectors to me was an indication that he had something to hide. Why haven't we gone after the other two countries? They have not shown they are willing to use the weapons in actual practice as did Saddam. So long as people are talking (in a way) then there is a possibility that a regime change in those countries could bring a more moderate climate. Iran, at least from the outside has the apearance of a Democratic Theocracy. Also of note Iran is made up of Persians, not Arabs, a fact that makes them different to deal with.

Israel, although it is suspected that they have nuclear weapons, they have not come out and said that they do. We did not supply Israel with any Nukes, if they have any they made them on their own. Yes, the US has provided Israel with military weapons, but only tanks and guns and such, no Nukes.
Iran and North Korea, at the start of the Iraq war, had not openly declared pursuing Nuclear Weapons.
I truly believe that Bush thought Iraq had WMD's when the war was started.
All that aside, I think Bush should have been more sure Iraq had WMD's before going to war, since it turns out they didn't.

I think it was back in Grampa Bush's time.. they thought they might assassinate him... so of course baby Bush had to get even. Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11 and Bush had no plans to avenge 9-11.. he just suddenly saw a chance to go after Hussein.. and lie to all of us and call it a war on terror. The terror is the fact that he has killed over 3000 young Americans. I hope he takes that knowledge to his grave and on to hell with him.

Your Mr. President thought he could get away with a lie, he defied the Unites Nations to start this war. How do you think we should look upon this government of yours.
Israel didn't acknowledge that they had nuclear weapons they said maybe "i have them and let them fear me, they can only guess". Very pathetic response from someone who's trying to achieve peace.
