Its not a Toy.
Dont play with one. You will get hurt.
If you are going to use one no matter what.
Then learn how to protect yourself and your home, before calling in a bunch of spirits you wont know how to control.
Be safe. ALD

Not reccomended, but if you insist...
Its we jah
Derived from the french(oiu) and German(Jah) words for yes.
Mass produced or 'toy store' boards are ... passable, but lack...soul. If at all possible a handmade board has a higher potential. The older the better.
A quick solution for an improvised 'board' is on a single large or seperate pieces of paper. You will need A-Z, 0-9, yes and no. Use a small glass as the planchette. Bottom side up. There...all set to go.
If the lore holds true, only an entity with high energy could use such a board, due to its 'weak' construction.
1.DO NOT under any circumstances use a board, strong or weak, alone.
2. After opening the channel, scared or no, close it and break the connection when you are done.
3. DO NOT destroy the board. If the channel is still open, you will need the original board to close it.
4.Do not drink from anything used as a pointer.
Again I would advise against it. If you must reach the otherside, use a professional channeler.

Other types of "ouija boards" include a "wand" or easily pushed pencil holder that will hold a pencil lightly against a piece of paper or even key boards.
Have you ever heard of a Freudian slip? That's the theory behind the ouija board where your subconcious controls your hands, allowing you to find your own answers. But most stores that sell board games also will have ouija boards (some book stores also in the occult section)
But the one using the pencil you lightly place your finger tips on the guider and close your eyes and concentrate and allow your hands to move of their own volition and amidst the scribbles you'll see simple words or pictures

If you don't believe the advice about not using one here on Y!A, find someone in your community who knows about occult practises and ask them. Okay, your pastor will advise against it, but so will your High Priestess.
They're easy to find, but man, they are dangerous. Every book I've read on Wicca, magick or the occult really condemns them.
Why not get yourself some tarot cards instead? Or a Magic 8 Ball?

You can make one with a piece of paper and use a drinking glass. However Ouija boards are bunk for the most part. At best you aren't talking to any dead person. At worst you are giving out an open invitation for every dark beastie in the area to come visit you. I would find something else to do.

Don't be foolish, if you are too open to that, you can be caught up in it for a long time. From time to time you contact something you just don't and can't get rid of. Like a fish in water, you don't know what your gonna catch.

It's pronounced wee-ja.
You can see some and buy some here
http://store.sacredmists.com/spoubo.html
and see more here
http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images?_adv_prop=images&imgsz=all&imgc=&vf=photo&va=ouija+board&fr=moz2&ei=UTF-8
You can read up on them here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ouija
Edit: don't believe the moronic, ignorant rnatings some people spout here. As with most objects people use, it isn't the object itself which is bad or good, but rather the person wielding it and the method in which they use it.

Check Toy Stores, Walmart, K-Mart, Target, Amazon, places like that. They're pretty common.
I got mine at a Garage Sale, but was always disappointed, because all the stories I'd heard, I always thought when I threw it away it'd return, but it never did.

They are scary. I don't allow them in my house. Why invite evil into your life? The ouija board is one of the things Satan and his demons use to entrap unsuspecting people. It would be in your best interest to rid yourself of it, if you have one and using one online is also unsafe
