1. Students have to learn about it in chemistry classes.
2. Students hate learning about it in chemistry classes.
3. Students try to get other people to do their thinking about the periodic table for them.
4. Students spend more energy trying to avoid learning about the periodic table than they would actually spend if they just read the silly book and tried to understand it and ask the teacher questions in class and actually try to learn chemistry.
