The law dictates that the gyno leave the room for you to have privacy when undressing. The same law dictates that an assistant be present during the examination.
Would you rather strip for the gyno? Not good.

This is protocol for all health care practitioners. No worries. Unless someone needs help, then we are all required to leave the room to allow you to change.

It's basically to remove any kind of sexuality from the situation. Watching someone take their clothes off can be quite a sexual activity, so they don't do it.
