That is the way of the political environment in that area of the world. Political alliances change with every change in the wind. Remember that region is the source of the political statement "An enemy of my enemy is my friend" Maybe they think that if they stall or commute the sentence to life they will have come off looking like good guys in the end

Current news right here on line tells us that three other Saddam henchmen will die this week. Still curious about the term "stalling"
makes little difference now anyway. Now there are thousands of 'replacement' conspirators to contend with thanks to our presence there.
