At what point did romance die, and why are gentlemen unappreciated?

I'm not talking about a needy, clingy man who sends you flowers every day and calls every 15 minutes. I'm talking about a true gentleman . . . confident, honest, healthy, respectful, successful, and romantic. Men like that have been all but banished in American society, because most women see them as being "boring", and go out of their way to hurt them and take them for granted.

Chivalry? Forget about it. If you open a door for a woman, she'll slap your face. Grab a woman that you don't even know and slap her on the backside? She'll think you're the sexiest bad boy alive.

Then women whine about how they can't find a good man. A bit hypocritical, don't you think?

kinda hard for a woman to find a true gentleman. personally i wish i did. Romance died when cursing became the norm and all that was bad is now normal in todays soicety, and walking with your *** half exposed is the "trend" not every man can be a bad boy and those few gentlemen out there are a rare commodity. If i had one id be so estatic.

I knew a guy who opened doors and was a wonderful gentleman who made me swoon. There are great guys out there. However, I am from a northern urban area and i its not you date/significant other who holds the door for you its weird because even simple actions can be termed as flirting or even sexist/annoying. Old fashioned is boring but being a gentleman will always get you pick of girls.

Girls who complain about being unable to find a good man are annoying and pathetic and have no idea what a relationship is. Anyways, its probably harder to find a good GIRL than it is to find a good guy. Women abuse men all the time and take them for granted........

Some women arent hypocritical, but those are the dateless ones. Perhaps you looking in the wrong place?

As a women I would encourage you to keep chivarly alive, and that does not mean you cant be a bad boy once in a while ;) But keep in mind that this isnt 1800, that treating a girl like shes helpless never earns you points(its all about balence, and action - nice guys loose out because they wait too long ), and it is the job of a good women to treasure and adore the man in her life as much as he adores her.

and if any man even tried to slap me on the backside he would loose an eye or something worse ........ just for the record.

You're obviously just a guy that can't get a girl, and are now taking it out on EVERY woman.
Why I know at this point I'm not going to get best answer, I just want to give my opinion.
Unless the woman is a jerk, she's not going to go out of her way to hurt a good man.
That just sounds delerious and almost like you're blinded.
Women have way less of respect than men.
You probably don't see that, but us women do, and most of us disagree with you.
No woman on planet Earth would slap a man for opening a door for them.
I think you're just lying for pitty, but I don't believe you when you say that that's happened before.
A guy would actually get slapped in the face if he grabbed a girl.

i kinda agree with you. i know a lot of stupid girls who are into that "bad boy" crap. however, i know even more guys who are "bad boy" crap. i don't know of a lot of gentlemen these days. but if you are one of the rare breed of gentlemen, keep up the good work. this world needs a lot more guys like you.
