This is discharge and a pantyliner is what you need. Tell your mother that you are having some discharge and ask her to take you to the store to get some pantyliners. This is not your period. Also since you are unsure what a period is all about now is the time to have someone explain all of this to you.

First, you should talk about this with your mother or any other older female relative. We've all been there.
A period would be roughly once a month, for a few days each time, and will look like blood because it is blood. It's not blood as in an injury, but it is blood. The lining of your uterus coats itself with blood in order to nourish an embryo. A menstrual period occurs about once a month if no ovum has been fertilized and implanted. It's a way of expelling that blood so that a fresh layer, full of nutrients, can be put down for the next possible implantation.
If this is a constant thing, it may or may not be normal. That's because the vagina is a self-cleaning organ. I'm giving you some links for more information. But please do talk with your mother, an older female relative, a school nurse, etc.

Is it red or brownish, like blood? If so, it probably is your period.
I remember when I was 12 and I started having the same symptoms, only it was clear. About a couple of weeks later, I started my period for the first time. Never understood that until many years later, when I read a book about fertility. Every month, women have vaginal secretions about two weeks before her period is due that signal that her body is going through ovulation, when her ovary is releasing an egg. It's kind of clear, slimy and stretchy, kind of like egg-white.
If this describes what you are talking about, it could be that you might be starting your period soon. This is pretty normal, so don't worry about it. Just make sure you tell your mom, or another female that can help you, so that you'll have supplies ready for when that happens.
In the meantime, you might want to buy some pantiliners to use.
Best wishes to you.

This is VERY normal bcuz when I was your age I remember having the same thing the best thing to do is use a pad bcuz that way you can just throw it away. This is very normal this happens bcuz your body is changing and the fact that it is kinda getting you ready 4 your period but don't stress out bcuz it is very normal and don't be afraid to tell your mom bcuz your mo is the one that will help u out the most with this kind of stuff.

i'm 17. i started getting a white discharge a little while before i started having my period. i went to the doctor, and she said that it is completely normal. mine wasn't as heavy as yours sounds though. i don't think it is a period if it is continuous and lacks blood. wearing a pad might be a good idea (probably better than toliet paper). it sounds too heavy for it to be a normal discharge though. talk to your mom about it. she'll understand. i also recommend going to the doctor. get help though. it might be an infection.

It's probably just regular vaginal fluid (the body's way of keeping the delicate membranes clean), unless it is discolored or smells bad. If it is, you should talk to a doctor. Otherwise, don't worry about it. Panty liners can help with the excess fluid (definitely better than toilet paper!), or a light pad.

i think it's definetly a sign that your period may be coming soon. Do you have armpit hair and pubic hair? zits? are your boobs starting to take shape? if all of those things are happening, then that means you're starting puberty, and should expect your period any time soon! don't worry about it though, it's just your body getting ready!

No worries, its just discharge. You can take the toilet paper out hun, you don't need it. There won't be enough to soak through your underwear, don't worry.
