...but, let's face it, I'm not.

To make matters worse, I'm starting to show my age (50).

Perhaps it's vain, but I'd like to do something to make myself into an attractive woman; I'm what you might call plain, and, after years of trying to believe that it's all about what's inside, I've decided I'm not convinced.

If YOU were a plain looking woman, with a figure like a grandmother (not fat, just re-distributed after menopause), ordinary hair and an average face with tiny beady eyes, as well as crepe-y hands that show the veins, what would you do?

I feel ...depressed. I know other women will understand, and I hope someone will have some good suggestions!

Thanks for your input!

Edit: Believe it or not, my hair has not yet turned grey.

you sound perfectly beautiful.. and it's all inside! but since you are not convinced, change things up a bit!
this may be expensive - but a stylist would be perfect
if your hair is gray, dye it.. if it's a dark or light brown, streak it with almost yellow dye, as well as get a chic new cut.

and all the answers are actually in makeup! sounds crazy, but a good concealer, some eye liner and a touch of lipstick will make you 20 years younger, im sure.

wardrobe - change it up, wear skirts, nice shirts, colors colors colors

no one has to feel ugly.
good luck!

One and most important, you have had 50 years to learn and grow and the spirit gets more and more beautiful with age!

BUT, I understand that when you look in the mirror, the spirit is sometimes not there to be seen! In that case :) I would suggest that you try Mary Kay's TimeWise Skincare set. They have quite a few products that work great for women who need to feel and look good, BEFORE the makeup!
I would suggest the 3 in 1 cleanser, moisturizer, day and night cream and eye firming cream. If you have a lot of fine lines or wrinkles the microdermabrasion set work wonders! If you have age spots or blemish scars, the Even Essence cream is wonderful for that.
The great part is that the sets last at least 4 months (mine last between six and eight! depending on usage) I use my face wash and moisturizer twice a day, day and night cream once a day (those I get a full eight months on), the micro set 7 months, Even Essence 6 months.
You get a lot of product for your money and it works great!

Good Luck!

Use only little foundation, lip gloss, light eye shadow, soft eyliners (like gray or brown, no black), cut your hair about shoulder length, wear classy but not overly fashionable clothes, keep your hands well moisturized, neat nails, no or just light nailpolish, and every single morning when you wake up, you tell yourself: It's a beautiful day, and I am beautiful!!!

Just take yourself as you are, and being beautiful is in many eyes just a certain standard...if you tell yourself, believe yourself, smile a lot, it'll show!!!
You know like there are some women that are very overweight, and they look sad and overweight, and then there are some were you don't really think that they are overweight, just because they are comfortable with themselves???

Ma, there is no such a thing as an ugly woman... there are just women that dont know how to fix themselves up. This is my advise.. Go to a great hairstylish and be willing to pay like $100 or $150 for a great makeover... they will do your nails and toes, also makeup and they will give you a haircut with new hair color that will uplift your selfsteem making you feel like you worth billions!!! Trust me.. if I am depress I opt for a new haircut or a new hair color... when I get out of the salon.. everybody is looking at me and I feel GREAT!!!! Instead of spending your money on going to the movies, or coffee everyday... save it and do something great for YOURSELF!!! You are worth it!!

There is beauty in everyone at every age. Perhaps you just need a change, a new hairdo, or color. If you think your looks are plain maybe try something different with your makeup and clothing. But, remember, you are beautiful!
