You got to site it if you are using someones work. Look on line for APA format it will give you hints on how to site the work properly. I'll give you and example; if I were using a quote from someone one it would look like this, According to So and So (2007) they say this and that (pg 207). If you are rewording someone elses work you can write it down and than put the authors name and date after the statement. Example. There is blue in the sky and white as well (So and So, 2006). The best thing to do is to check online for the specifics of APA format or Chicago style, not sure what you are looking for. The end result needs to be, if you are using someone elses thoughts and putting it into your words it needs to be sited properly.

Search on google, or yahoo for the exact phrase you believe that you have plagiarized. If you can't find it, it is most likely that it isn't. However, avoid cutting and pasting from websites. Also, be sure to quote everything you use directly from a site or book. Be sure to find the exact citations from any resource you use.

always site work that you use to get your information... if you cant find the exact place then use a "works consulted" page. Always try to give credit on things that you weren't the human that discovered it for the first time. A works consulted as opposed to works sited page will work wonders if you are unsure... Good Luck!

plagarism is obviously bad for writing school papers...ect. but lets say you find a really good observation or point on the internet made my somebody else. what you can do, is take the basic general idea, but write about it in your own words and expand it with your own ideas.
