they're both amazing, world class entertainers. i have not seen elton in vegas, but have seen him perform at other venues and he always delivers. so many hits, it makes your head spin. at the same time, "a new day" from celine is absolutely spellbinding. the show itself is astonishing and celine seems -- every night -- like she is performing for the first time. she keeps it fresh and alive. i have seen the show four times over the last three years and every time, it is a spectacle that makes me cry... she finishes in december 2007. GO!

Elton - and that's why Celine is in her last year.

There are many deals at expedia.com and travelocity.com
lasvegas.com

There are casinos everywhere - so don't feel you have to lose all of your money at one location.
There are roller coasters on top of tall buildings.
There are white tigers on the first floor side area of the Mirage.
There are outside shows at Treasure Island.
Gambling:
There are many where you can lose $50 without even trying, then win $10, then win another $50.
It's easy to lose $100+ a day minimum, so if you're smart
you'll back away if you lose $20 - and try your luck another time, or another day.

Best location, and I stayed there January 2006, was the Mirage and it's next to Treasure Island, across from Venetian Grand canal, and down the street are Bellagio and the Eiffel tower.
You can walk everywhere, or take the bus when your feet get tired (very cheap).

Don't forget to lunch at the Eiffel tower - pricey but great, great food, and across from the fantastic Bellagio fountains that have themes - yes dancing fountains w/music when you're outside to hear.

Lunch also at the revolving restaurant -where you can see all of Vegas during the day - THE STRATOSPHER. The food was magnificent and you can see if you go at lunchtime - where the people of Las Vegas live and the mountains that surround it.

Las Vegas - I saw Jay Leno and he was non-stop for 1 & 1/2 hours of jokes, and we got the last 2 seats in the far section, and it was still somewhat close because the entertainment area was well done!

We went to see Mystere show - and the best is called "O" which means water in French. The stage actually opens for people to dive into, and then closes for people to walk on it.
So amazing.

At the end of 7 days, I was ready to come home. It's exciting, but not enough to say, wow someday I'd consider living there.

GOD bless us one and all, always.

I've seen them both.

I'm not a fan of Celine, but the show is spectacular. Dragone (creative forece behind Cirque du Soleil) did an amazing job on the sets, lighting, costumes, dancing, etc. It could be any chic up there on stage singing her songs and it wouldn't matter, the show is a major production and very impressive. So obviously, if you ARE a fan of hers, you will absolutely love it. Just don't be expecting an intimate type of set-up, the stage is huge... if you really want to be able to see her, pay for the good seats.

While I think Elton John is a much more talented performer than Celine, I have to admit the actual show is not quite as impressive. Don't get me wrong, he's amazing and so is his band. The video stuff is cool, and the set design for the stage is pretty neat too. But this show is more like your standard large concert, less like a major production. You'll want good seats for this one also... towards the end of the show they pull some people from the front of the audience to dance onstage. (Really, they just stand right next to that Red Piano and listen to Elton play for them, but that's ultra-cool anyhow.)

Don't pay above face value for your tickets. Get them from www.ticketmaster.com (nominal service fee) or directly from the Caesar's Palace box office. There are plenty of brokers in Vegas who charge exhorbitant mark-ups, so beware of that.

Celine is leaving soon. Go while you can. I never saw Elton, but if he puts as much efort as they did with Celine, then see both. Finally, I am sure Elton will be there for a while.

Celine is outstanding, but Elton is Captain Fantastic. After you see Elton you might want to see Celine if time and budget permits it. Enjoy the best of the best, Elton....KECK

I've heard from a number of people that Celine Dion's show is one of the best.

Are there any really bad seats in the Colesseum? Will I regret buying the cheaper 2nd level seats for Celine?

Unless you have a preference to either one's music, Celine's show is much better. 2007 is her last year so go see her while you still can, if you can get tickets.
