Sure! You're a fan of the movies. You really should read the books though, as they're far more detailed and exciting.

It makes you a fan of the movie, Harry Potter movie, thus a Harry Potter fan. Now, if someone asks you if you are a fan, you have the right to say yes but in an act of self-preservation I would recommend not mentioning that you don't read the books should it come up in conversation (who knows what indignant Harry-Potter-book fanatics could do?)
Best of Luck
P.S. As I'm sure you have been told countless times, they are good books and worth reading if you have the time. They are also very good audio books (easier on the brain and great for road-trips).

I know that most people will disagree with me, but if you like the movies but don't read the books, then no, I would not consider you a fan. The books have so much more depth and intensity than can ever be expressed on a movie screen. I would think that someone who likes the movies but doesn't read the books is a lazy person who is missing out on the real thing.

Of course, though you don´t know the written versions, you still like the wizard, therefore you are a fan, but don´t worry the movies do not differ to what is written in the books, it is one of the most faithful movie series because the scripts are literally what the book says.

Sure you are a fan. If you don't read the books because you don't like to read, listen to them on books on tape or CD. This is what my son and I have done because it is really hard to read 750 pages out loud to a seven year old.

sure. that's exactly how i am. however...not reading the books makes it harder to understand some stuff. especially because they change some stuff from the books to make the movies.
