It has the error message 0x0000024(0x000190203, 0x081B9DD68, 0x1c0000102, 0x0000000). I tried to reinstall the XP, but it stops during the installation at inital stage when the reinstalation requires restart.

Since you have mentioned that even on Windows installation problems do appear, I would suggest that the problem is not caused by the installation of XP Service Pack 2.

(As the Windows installation program ignores SP2's presense on the system. It will automatically overwrite them when needed.)

It could be caused by a faulty hardware in your system. I would suggest checking your PC hardware such as RAM or Processor.

If you can get into safe mode, go into control panel and add/remove programs. Click the show updates checkbox on the top of the window, and scroll down until you find service pack 2. Click on remove. This should correct whatever the update messed up. If this gets you back into the computer normally, then backup your files, and try again. Hope this helps!
