IN 2005 my mother and grandmother both died of cancer. My g-ma from pancreatic and my mother from a non-specific that attacked her lungs and brain. Both women never smoked or did things you would think would contribute...both were very quick and unexpected...so thats how cancer has effected me...

My first job after graduating from college was as a medical assistant in an Oncologist's office. Every week (sometimes every day) I lost some one that I knew to cancer. These people became my friends -- their families became my friends. It was hard to lose them. Certain days it was hard to work there. I worked there for 5 1/2 years. I appreciate my life more... everything around me because I know how fleeting life is. I appreciate the people in my life to their fullest; I tell them I love them and they are wonderful.

My mama and I lost our best friend several years ago to cancer it was her sister and my favorite aunt. My mama and her siblings were with her when she died 3 of them saw the death angel including my mama and on the day she died she took them to the gates of heaven she told them he wouldn't open the gate and when he did her last word was now. This is really true it really happened believe me or not. Some people live there whole life and never see any thing like this. It brings tears to my eyes to think about her we often talk about her and remember the good times we all shared together.

I worked for a wonderful Doctor several years ago. He was always a nice boss to all of us. He is a devoted husband and father. He cares tremendously for his patients and never had a nurse call them about medical issues - he always called them himself. If someone had an urgent problem, he always would have them come in that day, even if he had to stay late. Now he is dying of cancer and it breaks my heart. He was a good person and a great friend. The world is losing a great doctor and a wonderful person.

My grandmother died from cancer, my aunt recently beat cancer, my friends grandpa died from cancer...it seems to be something that is everywhere now a days and that's just sad. I don't think there's one person who hasn't been affected by it in some way or another.

How can I possibly answer that? It is unknown because the people who have been taken from me were an integral part of my everyday life. My life would have been different had those people not died of cancer.
It continues to plague my life and those around me...it is evil!
