Marriage is a loving bond and spiritual commitment between two people who love each other, not our government. I'm Gay. If I decide I love some one to tangle up with financially, and any other way, I will find a way. I'm not waiting for Joe Hick Fundie to approve.

Still I believe that I should have the same legal rights as heterosexuals.

I think this whole marriage thing being sacred for only a male and female completely bogus. When I worked in a bindery (making books / printing), when we would merge one component with another we called it "marrying"... Sh*t, if the book and its cover can get "married", then so can I!!!!

Gregory

PS. Just because I can doesn't mean I will. Relationships are a B-itch!

Yes, commitment and monogamy are good things for both individuals and society as a whole.

For those who use the Bible to say no, let me ask you this: You claim that because the words "separation of church and state" don't appear directly on the Constitution, there should be none (Even though the 1st amendment implies it). Well where do the words "man shall not marry man", or "woman shall not marry woman", or any equivalent of said phrases appear in the Bible, where is it even implied?

Nowhere.

Yep. It may be considered taboo in some religions, but the legality shouldn't be determined by religious rules. I think some people overlook the fact that making same sex mairages legal in no way changes the religious taboo. If it's against your religion for a man to marry a man, don't do it. In turn, don't expect everyone else to practice the same religious guidelines as yourself.

getting married is up to the individuals in question it should not concern anybody else
and history and the public have proved that love is not limited to oposite genders alone
it can exist between any two people irispective of their sex

and if two people want to be pardners for life or at least in principle ,in the quest for happiness .
who is to judge what is right or wrong,
religious attitudes are temporary concepts that change constantly and there are many different points of view
they should not concern reality

Since there are several denominations that marry same sex couples, it is not a religious issue as any denomination can choose to either marry same sex couples or not.

It is a legal issue due to the 1,000+ laws that deny the same rights to same sex couples as opposite sex couples (such as tax rights, hospital visitation rights, inheritance rights, pension rights, and higher estate taxation upon the death of a partner).

Those who despise gay people are perfectly happy preventing a same sex partner from visiting an ill partner in the hospital (since the same sex partner is not 'family'), are perfectly happy with a same sex partner not knowing the condition of an ill partner unable to communicate his/her condition (due to privacy laws), and are perfectly happy to see same sex partners lose their home when a same sex partner dies (due to inheritance and tax laws) while at the same time calling themselves Christians.
