You don't need to groom it. It will groom itself. If it smells, you may not be cleaning its cage often enough. Its easiest if you just change the litter in the corners(or whereever the hamster usually pees) every day and the rest of the cage once a week or so. Hamsters do not like to be wet. if you try to bathe it, you will probably be bitten.

How often do you clean his cage out? You may want to try cleaning it out really well or getting a new one if you notice that there is a lot of smell coming out of the cage once it is completely empty..

It is not a good idea to give a hamster a bath or use a grooming type brush on them as you would a dog or cat.. They do make grooming gloves though which may help..

they groom themselves. u should never bathe a hamster unless it has somehow got into a toxic substance and his life would then depend on the bath. they can very easily catch cold & die. they dont need baths. they are quite clean & do a great job by themselves. u can buy him some chinchilla sand if u want, but it's not needed and he may not use it. if it is a girl some days they have a musky odor which is hormonal & u just have to get used to it. otherwise they do not smell bad unless they have wettail in which case it would have severe diarrhea. make sure u keep the pee corner cleaned well---carefresh or aspen bedding only.

Hamsters dont require grooming. You could try some chinchilla dust for them to dig in, that might help the smell. But you should never bathe a hamster. If the dust doesn't fix it, then maybe it's just you and you'll just have to deal with the smell.

Clean its cage, especially the nest area.
You can bathe your hamster carefully in warm water and mild soap or shampoo. Rinse well.
A hamster will not smell if its cage is kept clean, though.

clean the cage more, scoop out droppings in between cleanings with an old spoon, they do sell hamster soap, but I think it can catch a cold and die if they get wet. ask a vet.

They groom themselves (& unless very longhaired) should be able to handle it without help. They shouldn't get dirty anyhow if you clean the cage weekly.

You really shouldnt clean it they clean themselves. Make sure you are cleaning the cage out regularly and you might want to change its food.
