It should not do that, it should only saying that while it is updating your ipod with music, photos, and so on so forth. When it is charging your ipod, ir had the charging sign on your ipod, and says charging. If on your itunes, at the top, it says that it is ok to disconnect, then click out of itunes, and unplug your ipod, and plug your ipoid back into the usb port, and try it again. That has happened to me once before

You have to look in the taskbar for an icon that says Safely Remove Hardware. When you find it, press it and then select the drive in which the ipod is connected and then click stop and then apple usb device and finally press ok. then a message saying it is safe to remove hardware will appear. Then your ipod wont say that.

it should do that. if you have itunes you need to click the eject button on you ipod folder and then pull it out, check the battery sign if it is green all the way then it is good if not then put it back in also the ipod doen't charge if your computer is asleep or hybernationg or the screen is black

I think you should just wait till it finishes charging because your ipod might not work and dont listen to your ipod while its charging its bad for you

I think it hosed out.
If it's really been hours and hours, I'd disconnect. Something's frozen.
If it'll make you feel better, let it go overnight, but if it's still that way in the morning, start over.
