Catalysts are anything that speed up the reaction process. There are both bioilogical and physical catalysts (platinum speeds up a H2 and O2 reaction). They are beneficial to the digestive process because they can activate the enzymes which actually help break down food particles into basic macronutrients which our bodies can use.

A catalyst is like a helper that jumpstarts a process or makes it work better. If you left some ground beef in a dish it would eventually decay. But if you add papain, a papaya enzyme, it catalyzes the process, making it more efficient.

a catalys is bio-chemical molecule that speed up chemical reactions. if stuff like proteins, starch and fats were left to be digested with out a catalyst it would take a very long time for them to break-down and disolve. so we would die while the process is going on.

there are non-biological catalysta in non biological systems

Catalysts bind to active sites on reactions and lower the activation energy needed to perform the reaction.

catalyst helps reaction to occur but it don't take part in the reaction!!
