you can do it the minute he/she is born...they just swab the inside of the baby's cheek...no pain for the baby.
Is the father denying the baby? Even if he doesn't want to be a part of the baby's life he is still responsible for paying child support.

it can actually be done before birth in some sophisticated tests, but why torment the baby before they are even here.

Well, I don't know for sure, but he's got all the genes he's ever gonna have, so I'd imagine any time. Call a hospital and ask, they'll find somebody who knows.
