ok, so all the ram is pc3200 like I said so it's all 400MHZ. I need the ram for playing games, so I want faster loading, less lag kinda thing.

I would stick with the 1GB in dual channel mode. It is preferably to keep your RAM in matched pairs, that is not to say you can't run them in other configurations, but it is preferable to keep them in pairs. The extra 512 is not worth losing dual channel.

Depends on what you need it for. Dual channel RAM is faster than single channel and is great for things that need a snappy response. If you need a large amount of memory more than high speeds, then go with single channel.
