Poor people are the easiest to coerce through confusion, and lies. They ussually have little education and their churchs are easy to influence,

I am afraid it's a generational choice, their parents were, grandparents were Republicans, and so it continues on. Another factor may be when a person is poor, they don't usually have the educational opportunities the middle class and upper class have. Educations opens people minds, helps them to evaluate chocies more, helps one to see beyond their situation at the moment. It also helps people to wisely question options.

Of course we all try to support our view, or obviously we would have a different opinion. Even with higher education, one can get just about anything they want out of statics, so we find data that backs what we believe. I've been a registered Republicans for many years, but have voted Democrat lately. Seems the primary goals of Dems are now moderate - - what the Repub. used to be, whereas now the Repub. just look out for the very wealthy and big business owners.

There are no simple answers. Just as an example, Repub. act to help corporate growth, which often results in higher stock prices that makes the working class pension's better. However, people are often laid off, benefits cut, etc. in the name of good corporate growth..... The problem with that is, the poor do not have pensions.

If the conservative Republicans, who try to promote that God is on their side, would take care of the poor, "widows, and orphans" as the Bible directs, it would be fine. We wouldn't need the "hand outs" of the Dems. But they don't.................. so until they do, looks like we need the Dems in office.

The most discouraging thing is that politicians have a very hard time staying focused on their constituents needs; human politicians seem to forget other and do what is best for themselves!

Because some poor people do not blame the wealthier people for why they are poor. They don't see the world through Charles Dickens's eyes and they don't think that all wealthy people are out to exploit the poor. So, therefore, the Democrat Party's class warfare rhetoric doesn't appeal to them.

BTW, why do so many rich people vote Democrat?

Well let me tell you I am a registered democrat but I voted mostly republican on my last few polls. Cause I'm tired of all the freeloaders out their that are too lazy to get a job. I have worked very hard to get where I am today and I received no inheritances because my father was a poor farmer only owned about 160 acres which he worked hard to get and in 1984 he went broke and had to sell his land. So us kids were on our own to earn a living and guess what we are all working full time jobs and we made it. My kids are both out of high school my oldest is a manager at a supersaver and my son is going to college to become a veterinarian and he is working a full time job to pay for his own college. If you want something bad enough you can do it without a handout. ****There are more Democratic millionaires in Congress than there are Republican millionaires. Also Democrats have that are in Congress have more money that has been inherited and don't get taxed because it is old money where working people get taxed because they are earning new money. So I would like to know where some of you people get your statistics or information?

132 million Americans filed Federal Income taxes in 2004. Half made less than $30,000 adjusted gross income. Check your facts the Republicans make up the top incomes, the 12 percent who make above $100,000. Republicans are also the 0.5 percent that make above $500,000 in adjusted Gross income.

I'd like to see some HARD statistics on rich vs. poor and which partyline they vote. My perception is that it is about equal... the "old money" rich like Republican as they tend to favor big business and not raising taxes. Repbulicans want illegal aliens in the U.S. for the benefit of big business, i.e., cheap labor.

"New Money" rich (such as movie stars, etc.) tend to like the Democratic party lines as the Democrats favor social programs, giving away money to appease their guilt over being rich. They know that while their own taxes will be raised, it is not enough to cripple them and that the so-called "middle class" will bare the brunt. Democrats like illegal aliens as they swell the ranks of liberal voting blocks.

I've often wondered that very same thing, usually whenever I see a tiny, piece of crap car with a Bush/Cheney sticker in front of me. I really don't want to be stereotypical, but maybe poor people are more susceptible to the Republican propaganda- and they are working too many hours at Wal-mart to learn about what's really going on on the world.

Poor people who are Republicans think that Republicans are going to cut their taxes, without realizing that Republicans generally favor tax cuts only for the wealthy. Also, some poor people who are Republicans are delusional and don't realize that they're poor people.

I have news for you. Here in SD the majority are republicans and if you watch National News at all, SD has give to the poor and different charities more then any other state by a big margin.
So, know your facts before you shoot off your mouth.
Very proud to be a Republican better then being a Fairy Kerry!

Yes, this is very stereotypical- I'm a proud conservative Republican and I give my time and money to the needy, as well as other charities. Perhaps "some" should have been added to the question. Take care
