It hasn't always been considered bad, in old Greece the moral was different good was the strength, the courage, the health, the beauty... and bad was the sick, the poor, the weak, the coward...
But this kind of moral wasn´t liked by the plebe so they started to believe in Christianity moral and they inverted the values of moral, so that they woudn´t feel miserable and also waiting for the final judgment as they didn´t have the courage to revenge themselves(they expected god to do it), I know this as I´m reading now a great book by Nietzsche called the genealogy of moral, so if nowadays revenge it´s considered bad is thanks to the religion, because in the past I guess it was and honor and brave thing.

revenge is concidered bad depending on the situation of course... if the situation is a boyfriend dumps his crazy girlfriend and now the physcho btich goes to your house at night and spraypaints obcenities all over your car, she's obviously in the wrong. If a criminal knocks your mom in the head with a baseball bat, then revenge is pretty much nessessary. The everyday little revenges like btich slapping the annoying little kids who are running around the restraunt screaming in your ears may be tempting... but are bad because not only will you get in trouble, you're probably gonna get btich slapped back.

Revenge isn't 'considered' bad it is bad. It is bad because it just creates more suffering for all concerned.

If you observe life for a while, you'll see that revenge is chained up together.
If someone gets their revenge on another, then that person does it to the original person, then on and on and on.
The chain will NEVER end, well, until someone dies.
So, yea...

Spite. It is putting your self-importance over that of others, and the ensuing result is often just lowering yourself to the other's level. That is the only thing I can think of at this time.

Good question.
Revenge involves plotting bad things.
It's all about not moving on.
Revenge comes from the seeds sown on hate.
It's kinda like planned bad karma.
I guess I never really thought about it before.
Peace.
