This has never happened before and it ONLY seems to happen with my username. It was fine one day and all of a sudden I type my password (which it took unusually long to log in) and my desktop was blank. It informed me that my Windows copy was not genuine and then Windows Explorer crashed. Now it happens each time. I have no problem signing onto the main account. How do I fix this?

It's not pirated. We bought it from an electronics store. Everything is legit. Which is why I don't get why it would say this now. Do I have a virus or something?

Do you know where you got your windows XP? If it was a copied version, and you recently did windows update, you're another who fell into a Microsoft trap. There are ways around it, but that would be illegal. If you have the CD, re-installing might be an option. If you are insistent, a Google search will get you the right software.

This is all because of Microsoft's "Windows Genuine Validation Tool" which was downloaded and installed by "Automatic Updates" onto your PC.Problem is you cannot uninstall that "update".To the best of my knowledge I think you have to back-up your stuff and re-format your PC.And do not allow Microsoft to plant that on you.Again.Go to Control Panel>Automatic Updates>Choose "download updates but let me choose when to install them".This way you can pick which ones you want.Incidently,I would not get IE7.Hearing horror stories. That is also an "Automatic Update"....good luck.

You can also download a program called bigfix. It will tell you if and what your computer needs for updates. But because you go thru this program and not microsoft directly, you can still download updates or whatever and not worry about whether it'll crash because your system comes back not legit, even if it is legit.
