Windows 2003 Server- Can a server be setup with a server "hidden" within it.?
I have a Win2003 server. When i look in the security log its showing access by a user that is not in my user list. The person I suspect had possession to this server for about 3 weeks until the court made him to give it back. Is there a way he could have setup a back door or a different "server" within our server? many of our programs such as veritas back up dont work either since we got it back. Im wanting to know how to find out if this is possible and how i can find it if it has been done so we can remove him. Or even a website that could help me etc.

Im NOt A Computer Geek or Anything (no offense) but I've had a Trojan Horse in my computer before and from what I read it is possible and the back door could be hidden as a simple file and when you open that particular file it will let you view the file but the Trojan Horse will work its way into your computer as you ar viewing the file giving the person with the back door in your computer access to many personal things like Credit Card numbers, Passwords ETC. The only way to get it out is by deleting the file it is hidden in.......BUT this is very risky to deal with . I think that you might need to take your computer to a pro in computer electronics to let him look at it and see if he can get the back door out if there really is one in there. But if you ask me .........if you didn't pay that much for your computer I would trash the infected one and get a new one. But if you have important stuff on the infected computer and put it on a CD-R be careful to only put files that you know exactly what they are.
