They are such vulnerable organs, so why are they not kept protected with the body, like the liver, bladder, and other vital organs?

because your 2 pals need to be kept 2-3 degrees cooler than the rest of your body to produce semen...
in older times, if men did not want more kids, they would soak their testicles in super-hot water to help reduce the semen.
there is a reflex called the cremasteric reflex that will help pull the testicles up in case your inner thighs are brushed...(old archaic defense mechanism) but the real reason is that they are between your legs so hopefully that would be enough protection for you

To regulate the temperature. When you get cold, they shrink up closer to the body, when you get hot, they relax and drop away from the body. Ever notice that? This is to regulate the temperature of the little dudes inside. If not, they will die or become deformed.

it's the scrotum's job to regulate the temperature in order to keep the sperm alive. if the testicles were on the inside of the body, it would be too hot and the sperm would die. if they were too far from the body, they would be too cold and you got the idea.

Because sperm has to be kept at a certain temperature to stay alive. Thats why in certain situations, your scrotum will pull it or hang low to regulate that temperature.

because you need the other organs to live. you can survive without testicles. they are outside the body for temperature regulation.

Sperm die if they become too warm...therefore, they are stored on the "outside" of your body.
It is why the scrotum "hangs" when you are hot.
