Bush is full of catchy one-liners, that he attempts to promote unity that is akin to nationalism.
just like fanatic extremist Christians use nothing but fear, and the threat of hell to promote their religious ideologies, right-wingers are composed of the same types, who have nothing but fear to promote their political ideologies.

Because there is a difference between saying and doing , as you said 2/3 of the world do not agree with bush plan and it is definitevely too big for US.
To put the people in jail because of different point of view is a kind of extremism that Bush does not reach yet.

Contrary to a previous statement from another postie. Bush did not say that was a mistake of what he said. He said mentioning the Axis of Evils could have been worded different and that was a mistake. Not whether or not you are with us or against us.
What Bush meant by this statement is that any Country that harbors or supports terroristhas a choice to make on the war on terror. Your either with us or aginast us. ( Not American People? I'm not sure where you got that?)

Having nothing to offer most Americans, Republicans have a bag of tricks they use to get support.
One of them is the "patriotic" card.
Over the years they have questioned the patriotism of just about every group, except businessmen.

These ARE the times that try mens’ souls…”, times when I find myself consciously re-affirming my faith in the American Constitution and the wisdom embedded there, because there certainly doesn’t seem to be much wisdom in the Democrats of America or their leftist,

We should lock up all of the libs who stand in our way and attack every country that we have given money to that speaks out against us and then we might regain some respect and fear from those who think they can attack the U.S. without fear of retribution.

actually in one of bush's rare moments of clarity, he admitted that sort of talk was a 'mistake.''
this was in a press conference last year with tony blair.
but to answer your question - the intention of making such statements is to try to quash any real discussion of his tragically bad decision making process...

He meant that if you didn't support the War on Terror, then you are rooting for the terrorists to win. Bush did not "lie" us into the war, the Islamos bombed us into it. And he can't throw liberals in jail because of free speech, darn it.
