a kid didn't believe me when i said that i actually am a nice person. he asked me to prove it, so i said i'd get him something (because i didn't know what else to say). but, due to my procrastination, i haven't gotten him anything and i have no idea what to get him. though, i've been talking to him, and i think i've proven my personality. i feel like i've made an obligation and would feel bad if i don't fulfill it, but i don't know what to do.

Get him a candy bar. Nothing expensive. And say, "I told you I would get you something to prove that I'm nice. I hope you already know that I'm nice; but I want to keep my promise."

Why do you think you have to prove anything to anyone? It sounds as though this person is taking advantage of you. Be nice. But don't allow the kid to walk all over you. You have made an obligation for yourself.

So what if that kid doesn't believe you? If you must get that kid to like you, then I suppose you can buy him something. What do kids like? Toys and candy, perhaps? But make sure you don't spoil him else he might keep asking you to buy him things to 'prove' that you are a nice person.

Giving gifts isn't necessarily proof of good character or kindness. Treating someone well is proof. Having said that, I think you should get him something because you said you would. Good people keep their word. The something doesn't have to be large or expensive...it can be something silly like candy or a funny toy. It's really just about keeping your word, not about enriching him with a fabulous gift.

JUST BEING YOURSELF IS ALL YOU HAD TO DO, YOU DON'T HAVE TO BUY ANYONE ANYTHING TO PROVE TO ANOTHER PERSON THAT YOU ARE NICE. THATS THEIR OPIONION. AND BUYING A PERSON SOMETHING IS NOT SHOWING THAT YOUR A NICE PERSON. TO ME IT SEEMS LIKE YOUR TRYING TO BUY HIM SOMETHING FOR HIM TO LIKE YOU AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO IT. JUST TELL HIM YOU DECIDED NOT TO BUY BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE TO PROVE NOTHING TO HIM OR NOBODY. AND SAY IT NICELY. GOOD LUCK.

Giving him something won't prove that you are a nice person. It will prove that you are a sucker.

get him something not too expensive, but something that says that you're a good friend. also tell him that just because someone gives you something doesn't mean that you're a good friend. (that's in case you can't get him anything)

i'm pretty sure he doesnt expect you to get him anything! i mean if you want to you can. but that'd be pushing it..that'd show you have some interest in the kid..you know? if you want..sure go for it! but pft..just because youre nice doesnt mean you have to buy people stuff
