what do you think we should spend the saved money on? the people who have life in prison has already shown they can't live in society and do not deserve to live...so why pay for them to get old...i would rather have my tax money go on something or someone productive...not just waiting to die...besides where is the justice for the victims when you reward criminals to stay alive get free housing, food, clothes, TV, gym, etc.. about the 2-5% who might be inocent...well...life ins't fair now is it...if you think it is then you are in la la land...

Personally, and quite seriously I think they should be considered organ donors. This way they are paying their debt back to society. Donate a kidney, knock a few years off your sentence, donate an eye, skin for grafting, part of your liver, it could all have some "value" in time-served. I certainly think it would humble and turn around a few folks too.
Keep in mind that many victims and their families do not believe in the death sentence and do not want to see another life end, this is ideal to honor those families.
I also believe in "Shock Parole", not much recidivism after that when you get the first time offenders!

No because often innocent people are found guilty. This is a big problem and it happens all the time. It also costs a lot of money to execute people so I'm not sure we'd be saving any money at all. Sounds like a big psychotic mistake to me. FURTHERMORE, most of the people in prison are minorities or mentally ill. They are people our society has let down. Killing them won't solve any problems. You people and your precious taxes... try thinking a little bit.

I agree with you, they are there for life, which means they will die there, and then the ones with the death sentence, should also be executed. Can you imagine the money we could save for other resources, it woud be in the millions easy. I don';t think these dirtbags deserve to continue living while the victims and or victims familys have to way for the dirtbag to meet his or her maker. People will get upset and maybe protest, but in time they will get over it. Its a great idea and thought, but too bad it will never happen. The victims always get the shaft and the dirtbags get the perks in prison.

I personally do not believe that anyone should be executed simply because I hate the thought of executing an innocent person. I would assume that the majority of people who are executed are in fact guilty and can probably not function in society any longer, but occasionally innocent unlucky people are executed as well. .2-5%is not a large percent but if you were one of those 2-5% you would not have the same opinion.

That's no answer. The answer is more money for education of children and college for all adults and more money invested in good jobs in America. Sending out jobs to other countries as Republicans have done in the last five years contributes to higher crime rates, check them. You will find truth in education. BTW, Ohio had 1,031,600 manufacturing jobs in 1995 in 2006 they only have 804,900 that's a loss of 226,700 jobs. Under Republican control. In 1995 only 11.5 percent of people in Ohio lived in poverty, in 2005 it was 12.3 percent under Republicans.

No, I think that we should just have more severe penalties for the crimes that people do commit. I think that the death penalty and life in prison with parole in 15 years is NOT an effective deterent to crime. Obviously. People who get out on parole either go back to crime, commit the same kinds of crimes, or violate their parole. The death penalty is obviously final, but other people still commit murder so it is OBVIOUSLY NOT AN EFFECTIVE DETERENT!!!!!

Due to the appeal process, it costs more to execute a prisoner than keep them in jail for 40 years.

I think we should just leave the laws the way it is, because, every new endeavor with the Govt. becomes more and more expensive. Due to all the perks and kick backs needed to support anything as ridiculous as what you mention.

It's not that simple. There are thousands of innocent people in jail on death row. Would you want to be the one to condemn an innocent person before "due process" had a chance to exonerate him/her? No.
