There are people who find a "conspiracy to deceive the public" under every rock and in every story that they read. They use arguments like "We did NOT have the technology to pull off such a dangerous and complex mission in those days". They note that there are no stars visible in the black sky among a million other trivial discrepancies that they point out. They say that one of the moon astronauts (I don't know which) was confronted by a reporter who asked him point blank if the landing was a fake and the astronaut supposedly punched the reporter in the face. Some of the arguments are really stupid. For instance, they ask how the United States flag could be waving in the breeze if there is no atmosphere. Even I remember the explanation to that one. I was a little kid watching the first landing and the TV reporters explained how the flag was placed in a custom made frame to allow it to stand out straight. Otherwise, it would just have hung down and you could not have seen it. You don't have to be a genius to figure that out, but the conspiracy theorists use that as an example of why the landing was fake.
You have to admit one thing though, it was a pretty impressive accomplishment considering the primitive computers that they had back in 1969.

It is pretty amazing knowing that 12 men have walked on the moon - - But the last man to walk on the moon, did so more than 30 years ago and these days the government has a lot more trouble doing anything right. In 2007, People are more likely to remember the two space shuttles that were destroyed than the 6 moon landings.

Everyone loves a good conspiracy theory, even if the information isn't always accurate. If it was faked then it was the biggest snowjob in history because billions of people across the globe watched as Niel Armstrong first stepped foot on the moon. No-one in government service is able to keep even the slightest secret, so how could something of that magnitude ever be a falsehood? The fact is we did land on the moon.
