sounds like a fx of a very small bone in your foot....same happened to me and a podiatrist put me in a boot type thingy but I went to my ortho doc and he said it wasn't really needed unless it felt better using it...it finally stopped hurting
mine wasn't swollen though just hurt to step down on that part of foot......depends on how yours looks if you need a doc or not

I went thru this for a year, pain between my middle tow and the forth toe. Told it was a stress fracture , wore the boot, took anti-inflammatory, pain meds etc. This got worse, actually could not sleep at night. Finally a podiatrist diagnosed a Morton's neuroma and i had surgery. No more pain, but two numb toes which are annoying, but not as bad as the pain.

do you have any type of plantar warts? they are hard to see but very painful as they grow inward. maybe its how u walk and may need a shoe insert. do see a podiatrist for an evaluation if it does not get better. try some good stretching feet excercises
