Ask the question three times on yahoo answers, that will work.

Can YOU afford the horse itself and all of the costs associated with it? Will you be able to afford a great large animal vet if it becomes ill? Will you always be able to care for each and every day? That means no going out of town or not doing it because you may be ill one day.

I'm assuming no, which leaves your parents responsible for the biggest part of owning a horse, the financial responsibility. And if they are not interested in caring for the animal from time to time, there is really not much you can do.

Wait until you are financially stable and get a horse. If your parents were on board, I would say go for it as long as you know what you are doing before hand. But they are not, so respect that.

You should have a serious talk with him and explain all that happened and the type of bond you made with the horse as well as being able to get him for half price. Thats actually a really good investment and just list all the benefits you can and tell him how you're feeling and how your stomach aches for T.J.

Well, without knowing your age I will try to help (I was just like you and still adore horses)...

Get your plan together of how you could care for the horse (do you have land/barn available?) How would you pay for its food and vet needs? Would you be able to give the horse the time and exercise it deserves? Do mom and dad understand your love and would they be receptive to listening?

Sit down with your folks and share with them your desire and that your cousin is willing to sell her horse for half the price (check with her parents first so you aren't telling them something that isn't so) and then give them your plan for the above needs. If you are of age, you might be able to get a part time job after school to help pay for its care/food; also, you are going to have to assure them you will maintain your commitments like grades etc.

Talking with them and sharing what is on your heart can't be a bad thing, at least you could discuss and hopefully find answers.

Good luck!

If you haven't taken riding lessons and are not very experienced with riding or handling horses then I'm gonna have to agree with your dad. This isn't stuff you can just look up on line, it takes experience.

Convince your dad that you can handle the horse.

Save up your allowance, hand in all your homework on time...
Keep your room clean and organized to prove you are a responsible person.

Then, prepare a speech and show him what you've learned about what it takes to own a horse.

Offer to work to pay for it. Hard to advise you how to convince him when I don't know your circumstances and whether it would be practical for you to have a horse.

behave good in front of your dad, and do more housework, then promise your dad will do what what---like good grade and such, and express how much you love it
