Alright, as lame as it may sound, I'm determined to get more piercings (I only have single holes in my ears and it's really just not cutting it for me) and I'm considering doing them myself because my 'rents say no to even second holes. I'm much too impatient and determined to wait until I'm 18 in a little over a year. So I have a few questions about the do-it-yourself piercings.

First, where is the best place to buy your own piercing gun? I'm a little weary about using a needle and ice.

Is it a bad idea to do cartilidge by yourself? I've heard that cartilidge piercings are much more risky...

Is the law the same in all states saying that you must be 18 or have a legal parent or guardian to get piercings professionally done?

Thanks for any help... first-hand feedback would be awesome, if you've done your own piercings or were ever the poor little adolescent with strict parents in this same situation.

I do believe that law applies anywhere.
You should be able to purchase a gun online, but you'll more than likely have to prove your age somehow.
You could have a friend do it that way you don't jerk and mess up the piercing for your cartilage. It's really not rocket science.
Just make sure, if you're going to have someone do it at home, that they are capable of following through with the piercing and aren't going to be hesitant or slow.
I actually had to learn to pierce girls ears when I went through cosmetology school. Really not a big deal.
That and don't pierce close towards your head with cartilage.

You really should just wait and take on patience. Your parents can only be strict because laws, made by entire states, prohibit you for a reason.
Plus if you wait until you're 18, you can go into a shop and get a piercer to do some awesome projects on your ear that won't be typical and give you that "something different".

When I was studying to be a piercer I got curious and did most of my piercings on my own. Now that I look back I know it probably wasn't the smartest idea.
Piercing guns are baaaaaaaad! The apply too much pressure and can tear the skin, it's also much more difficult to ensure a straight hole.

I used (this is the really stupid part) safety pins that I sterilized with hot water and a flame. I really don't recommend it.

You are much better off waiting.

Don't try to find a shop that will pierce minors. In all likelyhood, they only do it because they are so shitty and unsanitary that they need the money from unsuspecting minors to keep going.

Time will pass quicker than you think. I've wanted my nose pierced since I was 16 and I didn't want to do it myself. I got it last year before my highschool graduation.
It's worth the wait.

I love percings.

You can buy peircing guns online.. personaly I wouldnt trust the guns that you buy online. I see you're using your own gun perhaps for sanitary issues which is good but guns are also bad beucase they are 'unnessesary trauma' to your skin and flesh.

Cartalige is very risky, especially with a gun, becuase you could snap your cartalige.

I don't know, but in Canada you can get peircings done by age 16, unless its your nipple or down there.

If I were you I wouldn't do it at all. But if you really want a percing then just get it done professonaly. You could probably sign for your own peircings. Professionaly done, most are no pain at all! Cartalige is no pain with a needel. I am getting my belly done and my parents will not know!! ;)

Good luck!

First off, I did all but 4 of my 17 piercings myself.
[Probably not the smartest thing..Har]
The only ones that really hurt were my snakebites...I did my right one last March and it has only recently healed up right.
Please be careful though!! It can get infected really fast.
Also, I found that rubbing orajel on the outside and inside of the lip helped...With ice too of course~
Rinsing your mouth with mouthwash beforehand is a good idea too.
You can buy a piercing gun at Sally's, but I'm not to sure if they are good or not....So..yeah! ^^;;
I did one of my cartilldge by myself and it hurt more then expected~
And be sure not to stop while pushing in the needle because when I did it got stuck and -really- hurt. ^^;
When I got my nose pierced my mom came along and that's all that was needed~
Good luck with it all!!
