It's been hard for me to get out of restaurants into computers due to my learning disability because people won't give me the chance to learn the work. I don't understand that because self-destructive people with no disabilities get all the breaks.
I need to get and HUD house or apartment as well. I wish I knew someone with my disabilities, but don't. I don't know where to go?

well you should rerffering them to laws that say about the disablities

ADA (american with disablities act)

on the frist title of ADA is empolyment

business must provide resonable accodmandations to protects the rights of indiviuals with disablities in ALL aspects of employment. meaning the business must change things to fit your needs. if you are qualifited to do
that one you must look into, there is also 4 more (5 in total) titles of ADA. that is relate to empolyments

i also suggest you look at section 504. this is relate to education in college.

you should be able to do what you desire to do. we live in a world that have lots of those things to make our lives harder.

I think your problem is that most people who apply for jobs "in computers" already KNOW the work. They have been to school and have qualified for the jobs. You are up against these people and companies don't want to train nowdays. You will have to get training in order to get hired.

I also think you need to have an attitude adjustment. Not all folks with jobs are self destructive.

Call your County Welfare. They can get you started on whether you qualify, and how to work toward retraining. They can also help you with housing.

Don't know what you are doing in the restaurants, but a good waiter can make excellent working at a popular upper end place - a lot more money that desk workers. You might want to try moving up within the restaurant industry.

Talk to the people at Goodwill. They have many programs to help people with disabilities. They teache interviewing skills, job skills, computer classes, vocational classes, job placement services, and more. Best of all, it's all free, you just have to go there. You can also check out www.goodwill.com for more information and a location near you.

Also look into your local JobLink office. They provide many of the same services, and again, it's all free.

Both organizations can help with housing, independent living skills, and all sorts of services and help you may need.

Don't automatically assume that it's your disability holding you back from the jobs you want. Keep an open mind, talk to these people, and learn from them.

Good luck!

you need to refer those businesses to the ADA. American with Disabilities Website. They are acting against the law. Try searching through ADA.com you can get advocates for you there and they can hook you up with people with your disability. Try seaching the official site of learning disabilities. There is a lot out there at your fingertips. Try there first.
