I guess I should probably say something :). Well unfortunately for all those people looking for a direct sign or form of God are pretty much out of luck.

God did not want to make it very easy and very apparent for us humans otherwise where would be the challenge? the test of our faith? the use of our intelligence and research?

Belief in God starts from historical analysis of events past, and the predicted events occuring currently and that will occur in the future. But the biggest proof of God really is all around you - ever stop to think how complex we as humans are? Everything from genes, to the miles of blood vessels, to the structure of our brains.

How can all life forms in this world just come to be? We had a Big Bang billions of years ago and voila life started? I believe for everything to be running as harmoniosly and smoothly as is in today's world what with the sun, and the moon, the tides, the galaxy, there just has to be a higher presence.

Another way to look at this is that most of us in our weakest moments reach out to God/Lord or that higher being or power. Why? It is then that we realize that we really are mere mortals and deep down we know that there is someone above watching; we just have to recognize and research the proof for ourselves. Nobody can convince you about God's existence but you, your heart, your mind and your soul.

Sorry to have bored you if I did, I tend to get lost in my own words.

First you need to keep an open mind and examine all the facts and not just religious facts. Lets start with my favourite, math. Lets just say there are 100 different religions in the world. If one is right then 99% are inherently wrong. Add the fact that it is possible that none have gotten right yet and there's a less than one percent chance that ones said religion is right. Combine this with a multitude of of other staggering facts such as the allowance of world cruelty, biblical hypocrisy, and the source of religion and its beginning and it becomes harder and harder to believe in god. However, in physics there's an anomaly they refer to as the "singularity" which is short for, "we believe in the big bang theory but don't ask us how it got there." So the fact remains how do you get something from nothing? Some might say that the logical answer would be that a higher entity would tie it up all in a neat little bow. The real fact is in this great country we are free to have what ever belief you choose to have. Just remember one thing. A belief is exactly what it is, just a belief. When it becomes a religion it kills millions and oppresses nations. "
"Friends don't let friends become fanatics." :)

Can you do it? I mean no one just snaps their fingers and says they want this, this and this and it happens, especially not creating the whole of creation. It is obvious that something greater than a human is needed to create our universe. Look into some of the statistics of astronomy and you will realize how insignificant man really is. The theory of evolution is also actually scientifically incorrect (yes, I know I might be treading on some toes here) but science says that if left alone things will move towards a state of chaos, whereas evolution claims the opposite. There therefore has to be something that created order out of chaos and so there has to be a God.

You seek methods, when in truth you should be seeking reasons. Why do you think that anyone would create an organized religion?

But in any case, you are given a book and a dogma. A bunch of data that very smart and wise people have a hard time analyzing completely. Though in the end, what do you have? Just that, information. Whether the information given to you is real or not is unknown to anyone of us. If the Earth grew arms and legs and swam through the universe to get here, maybe the first four generations would still believe it was true, yet it's impossible-even arrogant- to assume that we are to believe such knowledge with so much time in between.

That's why we arrive at a stale-mate. You must choose in the end, what you WANT to do. Either you want to believe and continue to convince yourself, or you simply lack the evidence to believe in a deity and don't do it.

It depends on you, therefore, if you can "hear" him in your heart, a technique which certainly eludes me, and many of my more religious friends, then you should be very content to live in a short sad life like ours, because you were lucky enough to "know" that you are an immortal soul.

But if you are unlucky like me, God decided to put a veil on and shy away from my rational and cynical black heart.

lol, if you are not as sick of me of hearing that kind of crap then im not sure who here is more cynical. Either way, as I said, if you choose to be a believer, go ahead and convince yourself.

Talk to yourself behind closed doors, where nobody can see you, so you won't be embarrassed, and pretend God is listening, for if he knew everything, he would know your intentions, but apparently that is not enough for someone who can make the entire universe... Ask for signs, use selective thinking, ignore rational arguments, or refute them with seemingly reasonable ones. It doesn't matter. In the end you are just as egocentric as me: the atheist. I too ask, God where are you? As did a Rabi when he was in a concentration camp as he lost his faith.

But know this, if I was to see this God when I died, I would not talk to "Him". I would be ashamed of being there to see the most sadistic thing in existence. If God is just a universal conscience, well then I'm simply wrong and I will never know that, as I will fade away as matter eaten up by bacteria all around me.

I too am with you on this question, yet I chose not to believe, are we that different, you and I? I am quite sorry that I cannot answer your question, yet my best answer to you would be to decide. To make up your mind, and if you choose faith, to hold that faith for as long as you live and have no regrets. That's what faith is all about, a game, that Rabi lost his faith in the war, and he lost indeed to the Nazi bastards who killed his character before they killed him.

Yet if God really was as benevolent and omnipotent as the Bible makes you think, why would he let those people, people with so much faith and goodness, die? I beg of you, never answer that question, for no person can know the answer, but many people answer it, to CONVINCE. That's what it ultimately comes down to.

Sorry I couldn't be more to the point, but in philosophy... sometimes the question is more important than the answer.

The Universe is so beautiful, so perfect, so enormous, I can't conceive of it existing without God as a part of it.

This song by India.Arie expresses it far better than I ever could...

The sweetest honey to the brightest flower.
The largest planet to the smallest atom.
Snowflakes and the bird kingdom.
Smaller than the eye can see,
bigger than the mind can conceive.

Heard a man on the radio today…
(Spoken) I mean I’m not going to believe in anything that I can’t see
and I’ve been through a lot of hardships in my life,
ya know, ya know in my life.

Must confess I disagreed with what he had to say.
How could he not believe that God is real?
don’t understand how he could feel that way.

When there’s earth. air. water and fire.
So many different flowers, sunshine and rain showers.
So many different crystals, and hills and volcanoes.

Chorus: That’s how I know that God is real
All of this is not by chance
That’s how I know God is real
All of this is not by chances
That’s how I know God is real
I know this is not by chance
That’s how I know God is real
That’s how I know God is real

In St. Lucia I jumped Into the water
(Spoken) It was like I was seeing for the first time.
It literally changed my life.
For the first time, I understood its power.
As I swam I was cleansed.
If I had any doubts, this experience cleared them.
Now I know for sure that God is real.

I know it’s the truth, by the way it feels

Cause’ I saw starfish and sponges,
fish shaped like trumpets,
so many different colours
I stayed out there for hours
and I only saw a fraction of a fraction
of the deepest of the deep
of the great blue wide;
it brought a tear to my eye.

We’re made of the same stuff as the moon and the stars.
The oceans saltwater just like my tears are, you feel me?
The sun rises and sets everyday without fail.

Chorus: That’s how I know that God is real

Most believers will tell you to look around you...see all the beautiful and complex things in life. That kind of logic reminds me of the movie “The Gods Must Be Crazy,” a native in the Kalahari Desert encounters technology for the first time--in the shape of a Coke bottle. I found this to be very amusing, but I also began to see parallels between his thought process, and that of the modern day Theist.

Both are using CAVEMAN LOGIC to explain their world. I fail to see the difference between “hmm, bottle fall from sky, must be gods” and “hmm, trees and butterflies prove the existence of god.”

In both of these cases, someone is simply replacing one unknown for another unknown, but proving nothing!

Not only can God not be proven, but I will also go so far as to say that God can be disproved. It is impossible for something to be all knowing and all good. If you are aware that something bad is going to happen, and you allow it to happen anyway, then you cannot be all good. If God created everything, then he also created evil. It is also impossible to be all-powerful; can God create a rock that even he himself cannot move?

I would have thought that as man became more knowledgeable and logical that he would have pushed aside his caveman beliefs, but it seems to be just the opposite.

There is a benefit to the belief in god, however, and if you find happiness, then more power to you. I've seen alot of born again christians, and they seem extremely happy. My dreary thoughts about reality shouldn't sway you, i'm just telling you how I feel. Anyway, good look............

You say you have faith, but I wonder if you have any idea as to what faith really is. If you knew the definition of faith then you would have no doubt. If you ask several people the definition of faith, you would get several different answers which most likely would all be wrong.. Follow this and you will be supprised as to how good it feels to understand faith.. If you don't know what it is then how can you have it. Start at Hebrews 10:34.. Paul says to the Hebrews that you cheerfully allowed the spoiling of your goods for you knew that in Heaven you have a more enduring SUBSTANCE. Now read 11:1 faith is the SUBSTANCE of all things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. 11:2 God commanded the world and all living things to be. (he spoke the words of creation) 11:3 things are not made of what they seem. They were made of a SUBSTANCE. Now what is that substance.. John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God and the Word was God. Genesis 1:3 God said. 1:6 God said. 1:9 God said. Now what is that enduring Substance? It is the word of God. All things are made of the word of God. You cannot see it because the Word is invisible to you and I but it manifests it'self in the form of all things, earth, trees, grass, humans and so on. Wood is made from trees, trees are made of wood, wood is made of celuloise and fibers, those are made of atoms, atoms are made of electrons, protons and nutrons. Those things are made from the Word of God. The energy force that gives life to your body is the word of God. Your spirit is the energy force, your spirit is made of the Word of God. Now what is faith? It is the Word of God. The Word of God is recorded in your bible and you can stand on it. It will sustain you because it is faultless. Since you know now that the enduring substance is Gods Word, you can depend on it because it is the definition of faith. Now all you have to do is read it and heed it. Get to know the Word of God and live by it.. He commands you to do three things. Be reborn, accept Christ as your savyoir and follow the laws of God. You do those things, you are living your faith and nothing, according to Gods Word, can keep you from being happy and prosperous and safe. I see that some guy named Billie has written about someone named Krisna or something like that.. Well you can believe it if you want to, but as for me, I would just have one question for him.. Who spoke his Krisna into being?

How do you know that your real? How do you know that heat is real? How do you know that love is real? How do you know that darkness is darkness and light is light? I can think of a ton more questions to ask you but the main ones you need to answer are the ones you can think of not what other people can think of for you. Explore your own mind and find some truths there first then start exploring the world with your known truths. Breath Focus Release!

"The French mathematician and philosopher Blaise Pascal suggested that the wise person would, based on logic, math, and probability, "bet on God." If Christians are wrong and there is no God, we have lost nothing. If, however, we bet that He is not (or we don't bet at all), and He is, we have lost everything."

well this is a pretty hard question to answer in just one day, so i'll try to make it brief.
noone can fully understand him. because he's god! someone as big and complicated as him can not possibly fit into our little minds.
it's so hard to actually believe that there was ALWAYS the one God. who's always been here since.. forever!! litterally. but we have to try and force it into our heads. ancient civilisations have found it really hard to believe this.. and that there's only one God who can do anything!

he can do anything! but what's great about him is that he doesn't force ANYONE.. or ANYTHING. he's given us free will. he doesnt force us to love him because it's our own decision.

if you want to know more (and there's ALOT more to know) please contact a priest. i'm catholic but what i've written is in any christian's point of view.

-First ask your self "what is knowing"?
Else you really don't know what your asking.

Then describe what your looking for...like...are you looking for the human like God, thus the Jewish Yahweh..the grumpy, jealous old man? Because Adam&Eve is a Jewish concept.

-In short, consider yourself grounded for asking this question...go to your room and study religion first, then find the answer your self.
Seems like you just started your search journey...good luck!
