Berbers are Mountain people ,who have camel races and shoot in the air, they live in an Arab country so ofcourse many people will label them Arab.
but many races are miss labeled all over the world
and there is nationality and race ,the two are sometimes hard to distinguish
the Political or National names get mixed up with the racial ones
how would you feel if they called you an African
to most people that is only black .
but it can mean Arab (brown),Bushmen(yellow)SouthAfrican caucasion, infact just about any color under the sun can be an African
my guess its the sunglasses that make people think your an Arab
ha ha

People don't care about Berbers because they have no impact on the lives of the average white middle class person living in middle America.

Very few Americans have heard of Berbers as an ethnic group. You can help educate people!

FYI - Most Americans don't know what a Berber is. To most of us, all Middle Easterners are Arabs. Sorry.

Maybe they do not know enough to identify your ethnic heritage by sight.
If they are not familiar with Berbers, they might lump you into a larger group that they are familiar with.
You could take the time to educate them if it bothers you. =)

I'm not sure. People can't base things on looks, everyone thinks I'm Caucasian American when I'm really 1/2 Caucasian, 1/4 German and 1/4 African American (and proud of it)! This falls under the catagory of "Don't judge a book by it's cover," don't you think?
