Tom Brady vs Phillip Rivers

Which would you want leading your team?

Tom Brady - 11-1 in post season play
Phillip Rivers - Never played in a playoff game and has depended on LT and the defense to hold him up while he plays mediocre at best.

Anyone who thinks Phillip Rivers struggles won't at least stay constant, more likely be magnified, in the playoffs has never played in a high intensity high stakes game.

I just don't see how so many are favoring the Chargers in this one.

Because the Chargers played better throughout the season, not just on offense but defense as well.

You want reasons? Here's your reasons:
1. The Chargers are a better football team on both sides of the ball.
2. Rivers is a Pro-bowl QB who had a couple of bad games before having a great final game (and he's always been great when it counts). Brady has had several bad games this year as well.
3. L.T is the most dominant player at any position in the NFL.
4. The Chargers are UNDEFEATED at home.
5. The Chargers are rested
6. New England was a better team last year when they were blown out on their homefield 41-17 by the Chargers.
7. Even if the Pats manage to make Rivers play "mediocre", they still will get beat by L.T. and the defense like so many other teams have been.
8. L.T. CAN NOT BE STOPPED!!!!!!!!!! (unlike LJ)
9. Did I mention L.T. plays for the Chargers? Because he's worth 2 Tom Brady's.

This time next week we'll know Granted the Chargers will have the home crowd behind them but we've all seen how quickly the Pats can take a crowd out of a game esspecially in the playoffs and JustAsking to answer your question warren wilfork seymour with bruschi colvin and vrable backing them up are very difficult to run on the line and backers are statistically better than any other year since the pats won their first super bowl not to mention you have a quarter back that is gonna be pissin himself in his first big game look for big mistakes by rivers in the first quarter or two pats roll 27-13

Are you kidding? Chargers defense kicks a$$ right now! And LT is on fiiirre! Chargers are good this year, and Rivers has had some rookie luck with some of his plays. chargers all the way. But I wanted the Chargers to play the Patriots cause they are a good team, and if the Chargers beat them then we beat the best in the NFL... so Ill give you that. lets see a good game!

The Chargers were impressive this year and deserve the #1 seed and to be favored in the game vs New England. That said, there are still ways to beat a team like SD - ask Belichick, as he has beaten the high flying Colts over the years in the playoffs, and has a lot of smart guys on defense to execute his specific game plan.

"has depended on LT and the defense to hold him up while he plays mediocre at best"

Sounds like how Trent Dilfer, yes Trent Dilfer, won a Super Bowl with the Ravens in 2000, with a strong running game and an overpowering defense. Now, comparing the Chargers to the 2000 Ravens D would be insane, but LT is the best player in the NFL, compared to Jamal Lewis.

Given the tendency toward East coast bias when it comes to sports, I don't understand the heavy favoring of the Chargers, either. SD played a much weaker intra-division schedule than NE did, and NE's got a billion times more playoff experience, even if they did stumble down the stretch a little. I'm going NE -- not necessarily in a blowout, maybe 28-17 or something like that -- because of the experience factor.

Because so many of us hate the Patriots and stupid Tom Brady! I don't care what the stats are I hate the Pats and hope they suffer when they lose!
