I have felt him for a few weeks (which suprised me because I didn't feel my first child until around 5 months).. anyway, am now 4 months and he is up that I can feel for hours at a time. Every now and then it hurts... He can't be that strong yet.. What is he doing in there that feels like a hurtful poke?

And no, it is not gas or cramps INSIDE my uterus... I do know where the uterus is... and I have been pregnant before, so I know it is the baby

I am 18 weeks pregnant and experiencing the same thing. I actually called my Dr. and had him check it out because sometimes I would feel pain and other times I wouldn't feel anything. My Dr. said at this stage of pregnancy your uterus is stretching and so are the muscles and ligaments surrounding your uterus. He said that the baby is moving alot at this stage, sucking its thumb and moving he used the fetal doppler on me just for reassurance to me. If it bothers you, just call your dr. he will understand you are just concerned and will probably even have you come into his office tomorrow just so you can hear the heart beat. Good luck!!!!

Hi, I am 19 weeks along and I can feel the baby moving around a lot, especially at night when I am attempting to go to sleep. At my last visit, when the dr was trying to let me hear the heartbeat, she kept having to move the monitor around because the baby was moving around so much. She seemed surprised that the baby was already so active, but it is perfectly normal. All pregnancies are different and some babies are just more active than others. It can hurt sometimes, but I just move around until I find a comfy position. If it gets too uncomfy for you just call the dr so they can reassure you that everything is ok.

Around 18 weeks I was feeling the same kind of thing with my daughter. Turns out she managed to get her foot lodged between two of my ribs which was causing the sharp pain and pressure. No one could push her foot out of there, it finally disslodged when she droped at about 36 weeks, so I was getting those sharp pains all the time! She was born with her foot twisted inward because it developed like that and she had to wear special shoes as a baby.

That could be similar to what you are going through, but it would take an ultrasound to find out. If your next prenatal check up is soon, then just wait and tell them then, unless it gets worse. If you just had a check up, give them a call and tell them exactally whats worng. You never know if it is something minor like what happened to me or something detramental like a pinched ambillical cord (which causes simmilar stabbing pains) so call just to be safe!

Good luck and congrats on your baby!

It is entirely possible that he's growing too fast. I would go to the dr. and have it checked out. Also, it's possible that it could simply be your uterus stretching.

(I had that problem at around four months. It was so bad I had to go home from work).

But it could be normal. Then again, it might not be. Make a dr.'s appt. immediately. You need to have that checked.

Also, is it possible that you're further along than you thought?

I felt my daughter (my 2nd child) for the first time at 11 weeks...its common to feel your 2nd, 3rd, etc.. baby earlier each time.
I also felt painful movement around 16-18 weeks and my dr said it was positioning combinded with elbows and knees just poking around in there.

Go to the doctor and tell him. Anything out of the normal should be investigated. Perhaps an ultrasound is in order.

Pregancy is not comfortable and every pregnancy is different!

I felt my second pregnancy a lot earlier than my first. Yup, they can be strong early on. But you should talk to your doctor if it is concerning you.
