I have asked this question before, and I will tell you everything you need to be in. At least at my school.
Shoes:
Rainbow Sandals
Ugg Boots [Uggs, not Emu, Bearwalk, etc]
Vans slip ons
Vans classic lace up
Makeup:
Go natural, and only use lipgloss and mascara. I use Neutrogena soap to clear up.
Clothes:
At least one designer purse [large, ie: Juicy Couture, Chanel, Marc Jacobs, or even a tote from say HOllister or A&F]
Large sunglasses [not have to be desginer, but if they aren't make sure they have no brand names on them otherwise thats just tacky]
Pearl strand
Juicy couture basics [jewlery, track jacket, purse. no more]
Hollister puffer vest and likes jeans and stuff
Pacsun random clothes
one plain cami
college sweatshirt. {NYU, etc]
at least thats what ppl at my school wear.

Leggings, skinny jeans, and furry boots are trendy right now. For coats it should be about two inches on the bottom that are made of stretchy material, then it should be really puffy. Then at the hood it should have really fluffy fur around the rim.

Empire waisted dresses and tops.
Belted tops.
Skinny jeans with a pair of stiletto boots.
Surfer shorts with tanks.
Camis and bootcut jeans.
Skirts with leggings.

the 80s are back.... but in a very sophisticated and not ugly (generally) way. skinny jeans and leggings are hot... and i like oversized-ish sweaters over them. just look on any popular clothing website(urban outfitters is very trendy)
